Metal Valve Stem For HiSpec 15" Wheel

I just ordered a set of Maxxis M8008 tires for my TT that has HiSpec 15x5 Series 06 wheels. I want to get metal valve stems installed with the new tires. Can anyone confirm the size of the valve stems I need - 0.453" or 0.625" (TR428 or TR416)?

This is the wheel.

ETrailer.com says this wheel uses 0.453". Resident tire expert wmtire thinks that's correct as well but if anyone knows for certain I'd appreciate it.

I have basically the same rims on my trailer; except they are the 15x6 vs. 15x5 which you ordered.
The dealer I purchased them from sold me the .453" and they fit perfectly.

So, I would have to assume the are the same size.

But for 100% accuracy....

Thanks, f5moab. The wheels came on my Rockwood so I'm not sure if they are the 15x5 or 15x6 but they should be the same size valve stems. Thanks for the ink. I've sent them an email to confirm the size.

itat, a tr-416 usually comes with two grommets, which you use only one to fit either the .453 or the .625 size hole.

However, glancing at your wheel pictured, the way the valve stem hole is inset like it is, I don't feel a TR-416 will work in your situation, as there is not going to be enough room for the washer and nut to fit in the inset part. Even if the nut will fit, you still have to have enough room all around it, to fit a socket over the nut and turn it.

Other have wheels like this, and use a more specialized clamp-in valve (TR-428) stem, which has a smaller diameter nut, which is also nearer to the top of the stem and not the bottom.

These are the ones I had installed on my rims, and so far, for two years, NO problems.

Yep, those ENKEI (which is a brand name as they were the first to really build those type stems) stems will work in certain places.

I professionally prefer the newer TR-428 in certain applications, as you can tighten the nut if necessary without having to dismount the tire, as with the ENKEI type stems.

One thing I should note to the OP, if considering a TST TPMS system, the flow-thru sensors will NOT work. The valve is too short, and where it is mounted, with the angle of the rims, would not allow me to screw them on all the way. Had to return them for the standard sensors.

Also, removing the standard sensors, with the little anti-theft tool was a pain, Actually took off the anti-theft housing and installed them to the rims.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check the nearest NAPA store first, but I found this online store.
TR428 1.50" Chrome Plated Brass Valve for Ford Trucks: Tire supplies, wheel weights, valve stems, patches, air chucks,TPMS

Wmtire, I presume the valves in my link are the same as the O'Reillys you provided a link to? O'Reillys website says they're not in stock.
