Thumbs up My Review Of Endurance Tires

Just completed my annual trip of 1,300 miles round trip to Emerald Isle N.C. via 1-75, I-64, I-77 and various County Roads with my new ST205/75R14 Goodyear Endurance tires.

I make this trip 2 or 3 times per year. For the first time I was able to drive with one hand on the wheel. There was absolutely ZERO sensation of the camper rear end wagging. I only noticed a few instances of being pushed or pulled to the side when a big rig was passing me. And for the first time I was able to drive the speed limit with confidence as the tires are rated for 85 mph (which I would never do). The Endurance tires are load range D up from the C tires supplied by Forrest River. The side walls are stronger and definitely make handling better. I run the tires at 65 PSI and checked them at every rest area stop and their temperatures were good.

I give the Goodyear Endurance Tires TWO THUMBS UP!

Just a small reminder the 65Psi should be the cold setting you will see something higher after running the rig. My tires seem to go up about 4 psi on average on a 100 mile trip as viewed on my TPMS.

Manufacture recommends maintaining 80psi your libel to do damage due to low air pressure. I keep mine at 80psi. I also would recommend buy the TSP507 tire monitoring g system. Later RJD

Load range D tires like the OP has call for 65PSI You must have load range E tires

This is what the manufacturer says:

Couldn't agree more.

I also noticed a big difference after switching to the Goodyear Endurance.

Inflation should be based on load and speed. 80# is the max pressure you should inflate regardless of speed and load.

Yep mine load range E and I do keep at 80psi. TT is loaded close to max and who knows when one may reach speed over 70mph. Always keep tires at max on trucks also and get excellent wear. Later RJD

Agreed on the Endurance tires, I'm thoroughly impressed and satisfied with them. I run them at 50PSI even though they're LRD, 50PSI is what is needed for my trailer's GVWR and is also the PSI that was needed for the previous LRC tires.

Suggesting the OP run them at 80PSI when they clearly said they are load range D? The devil is in the details, don't just repeat what you do with different tires that are a different load range and ignore what the OP actually has.

I just replaced my Marathon tires with Endurance. I have only pulled it about 15 miles. So far they are rolling along.

This chart does NOT caution against using Max Sidewall PSI, nor does it state or imply that you should not use Max Sidewall PSI. I've yet to see one that does.

What are you talking about?

I never said or implied that you shouldn't use max sidewall pressure or offer any caution for or against it.

If you read the post I quoted someone made a claim about what the manufacturer said...and I posted the link to what the manufacturer actually says on the subject. Nothing more.

The chart isn't hard to understand...

Ok to run endurance tires at 65

I had this same question when I upgraded to the Endurance ST tire and went with load range E. I run them at 65 and that is perfectly ok according to Goodyear and retired tire engineer Roger Marble, who writes for RV Travel. Goodyear says you can even run them at 50 with no tire damage. Review the chart that is referenced above.

For the OP's tire size (ST205/75R14), 65 is the max. Sizes larger than that can go higher. Now if you want to talk about running less than the Max Cold Inflation Pressure on any size tire, this thread will shortly become ugly with, eh, just wait and see... LOL...

As I said I run mine at 80 due to weight and posible speeds that I may or may not exceed. I even ran my marathons tires with max air and never had a blow out in 30 years using them. Do what what you ga to do. later RJD

Would you like to try again?

For the 3rd time, the OP can't run 80PSI because they don't have load range E tires. You claimed the manufacturer recommends maintaining 80PSI due to "damage from low air pressure." Both of those statements are false, the manufacturer does not recommend running tires at max PSI nor is damage likely from running below max PSI UNLESS the tire's load rating at that pressure is exceeded.

On the same trailer with no change in weight, a higher PSI (but less than the max limit) will result in a stiffer tire and therefore it will be more immune to sway. This will happen regardless of brand. If you run the Endurance tires at the same PSI as you previously used, the sway will likely return.

There is nothing wrong with using a slightly higher PSI than what the inflation chart specifies for the actual weight of a trailer. But excessive PSI, like underinflation, creates problems. The most obvious is reduced contact patch and therefore reduced stopping power.

But what is never discussed is that tires are part of the trailer suspension, absorbing shock. So, significantly higher PSI than needed for the actual load means more stress is applied to everything else. Wheels, bearings, springs, even the frame and the rest of the trailer and contents.

You should go compare an unmounted Endurance tire to one of the cheap Chinese tires in the same size and load range. You’ll change your mind.

The Endurance tires are much stiffer and tougher even then. Unless you’ve towed with Endurance tires then you’re just making an assumption without any experience. I run my Endurance tires at the same PSI as the previous tires and it’s much more stable with less sideways push from the trailer.
