Older Prodigy failing?

I have a 2004 era Prodigy brake controller. It has worked fine since i bought it new. Last night it did not auto-shutoff. When i came out of the camper this morning, i heard the brake magnets clicking. When I opened the car door, the Prodigy was flickering between 0.3 and 0.9. Usally it is off/blank.

I unplugged it and pulled it out of its mount and shook it. Heard a click inside. Now it seems to be operating properly. I have not given it a chance to go to sleep.

Thoughts? Use it or replace it?

I'd say you got your monies worth out of it...

Time for a new one!

Somehow I doubt that it is a wiring issue...

I had one in my previous two Dodge trucks...

The power to my brake controller was turned off with the truck key, however.

Bought the brake controller in 2000 and sold my last Dodge in 2014.

The power to my brake controller was turned off with the truck key, however.

Last I knew from the new owner is was still going, but once stuff starts happening like that, it might just be time to replace it.

Or get a new truck with a built-in brake controller!

Replace that ancient device, new technology is a good thing.
