I had purchased a Reese Sidewinder with the trailer when I bought it since I had a shortbed truck. While the concept is superb, turns really tight without cab interference, the wedges don't live up to the job and have so much slop with the Curt A20 that it became a white knuckle ride.
I also noticed a bit of slop between the pin and jaws, and not sure if that is normal or not.
I have since replaced the truck with an F-450, for other reasons besides the short bed, and no longer need the Sidewinder. I have it locked in place with the wedge removed, which I did when I towed it home from our last trip to an amazingly comfortable ride, but came close a couple times to smashing the cab.
I am considering removing and selling the pinbox and replacing it with something else. I still have the original one, which I can swap out, but thinking that maybe a suspension type might be better.
Which ones should I look at and which to avoid? I am still using the Curt A20 since it is a good hitch, and only a year old.
