That shaft with the “bronze bell”
on it spins, right?

Yes, that's correct. If you look at the bottom of your TT on the other side corresponding to where that shaft is, THAT is were the crank handle fits. It lets you manually spin the shaft and extend or retract the slide.

Ok. I’ll check. But if my TT didn’t come with a crank do you think a socket, long extension and a ratchet will work?

I don’t want to break anything.

Sllde Out Extension Crank

The fitting on the TT is kind of "T" shaped (see attached pix).

So, the crank handle fitting is shaped accordingly.

If you have access to the tools, you could fabricate a fitting out of a deep socket wrench that is a slightly larger diameter than the rod. Take the socket, clamp it gently in a vice, then cut the slots into it using an angle grinder (while wearing safety goggles and hearing protection ). Then, use the socket with any handle (plus extensions if you have them), and you'll be good to go.

If you have this fitting, strange that you didn't get a crank handle. You could try contacting your dealer or Forest River...

I don’t know if I have that fitting. I certainly don’t have a hole in the side of my TT like yours does. Tomorrow I will get out there and take a look.

I hope I have it.

For those interested, here is how you post pictures from a PC.

First, click the little paper clip, then a dialog box will open letting you choose pictures to post (see attached screen clips).

Haven't tried to do this from a phone...

I just looked under my TT. The entire bottom is it is sealed. There a kind of corrugated plastic, like plastic cardboard, attached to the bottom. There is no fitting accessible to include the outside side of the frame rail. This is all looking from the passenger side. There is not a hole in the side of the TT like yours.

There is, however, about 10” inboard of the step box an access panel in this corrugated plastic. I’ve never opened but it doesn’t seem like it would make sense to put that manual crank fitting there.

I have that same corrugated plastic material sealing the underside of my trailer. The fitting is actually on the outside of the passenger-side I-beam frame of the trailer (see picture).

Just thought I'd share this, but I suspect you have looked things over pretty carefully by now... maybe the fitting is in that access panel you've noticed.

I’ll check again but I didn’t see anything like that.

I’ll open up the access panel too
