Spare Tire Location

I bottomed out on the spare tire mounted under the frame of my Sanibel 3601, bending it up and ripping it off. I am getting a new hanger and really don't want this to happen again. Looking at other 5vers in my campground that have tires mounted under them, they are mounted closer to the axles than mine was. Does anyone know if I can move the location, or if there might be a structural reason I cannot do this.

You might consider this. I mounted mine in front of the axles.

Thanks. I thought of that, but the way my frame drops down it would be low.
