Spare Wheel - Where to Buy

Hi all,
I've been searching for a while, but I can't find any info on where to buy a spare. I'm really surprised too. Tons of info about buying tires, but I can't find anything about buying the whole wheel/tire combo.

Where is the best place to buy a spare tire/wheel combo? Do you normally just buy them from an RV dealer or RV store, or is there a tire chain store that sells them more reasonably?

For info (to answer questions that I've seen come up in almost all the threads I have found):
1. No, my camper didn't come with a spare (the old "better to call roadside assistance" excuse at the dealer). And I knew it when I bought it.
2. I am aware of roadside assistance, necessary tools, not worth it, etc. opinions. I have decided to carry a spare.

Thanks.

You can get a 'spare' rim and tire from almost any place that sells tires. But..... make sure that the 'spare' is of the same spects as the tire/rim that is on your unit. If you have a 'special' type of rim. Take one off your unit and take it in and have it ordered for you.

Thanks Penny. I looked into Costco, Walmart and NTB, but they only sell the tires. Etrailer has them for 1/2 of what a local place would charge (although the tires may not be as good).

I'll try a couple of more places, then order online if I need to.

it is interesting that on costco.ca (Canada) when I did a search for trailer tire all I get is tires mounted on rims but costco.com only has tires without the rim. Most places should be able to get you a basic rim and have a tire mounted. If you want one that matches your trailer (specialty rim) that may be more dificult.

Check out Trailer Hitches & Vehicle Accessories (800)298-8924 - great service and a wide selection of everything. There are several other places to get them, including Amazon (which in most cases is just a storefront for etrailer.com). Definitely in your best interest to buy one already mounted - it will most likely be cheaper in the long run.

5 stud wheels have different diameter lug pattern. (4 1/2" and 5 1/5")

True but most trailers have the same 5 lug bolt pattern, I have used older Ford car & Ford Ranger rims on five lug trailers for years. I have had 8 different trailers over the years including three campers that all have had the same 5 lug bolt pattern. I have been known to change tires & rims around on them depending which tires were better.

What size wheel/tire? I have a 5 lug-14inch White steel spare tire and wheel for sale. I upgraded my Flagstaff to 15 inch. Sold the four Aluminum wheels but the guy didn't need the spare. I'm at he FROG Rally if you close by. Live in Central Ohio.

All, thanks for the info. I found a local RV store that sold me a new one at a great price, so I picked it up there. Price was as good as online.
