Tire Blow Out Protection
I haven't seen a posting about this product called RV De-Defender. It is a metal shield that is mounted behind the brake assembly and covers the tire with a heavy gauge metal shield. If the tire blows it contains the flying and flapper remains of your tire from tearing up the TT.
Here is a link to the products web site:
https://rv-de-fender.com
More information and contact info can be found on their Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/rvdefender1
Don't see any information on the web site as for pricing and availability. Per the web site available in size up to fit 5000-7000lb axles with 16” wheels. Install not a simple bolt on as you need to remove both the tire and brake drum assembly but doable if your handy. Looks like they are working on TT with disc brakes and tripe axle MORryde type suspension.
Curious what you folks think.

Would have to see the price they are wanting, but I'm definitely skeptical.
I see the need for some sort of protection for most RVs as I had one tire failure that cost my insurance $8k.
I've seen blowouts destroy flatbed decking that was 2"x12" wood covered by 3/16" diamond decking. Have you seen the stock trailer fenders after a blowout? And most are the same thickness as these devices.
Guess I would have to see this for myself. And seems like when you have to call for a price, it is too much

That thing is kinda like something I made. My main reason for making it was to deflect water from slinging up into my slide. After building it, I thought it would help in the event of a blowout, too. I made it using a galvanized basement window well

Yep, very expensive. And the marketing seems over the top. Lots of disaster pics of what could happen to an RV during a tire failure, no pictures of the product after a test of a tire failure.
I'm going with my thoughts of this being another over marketed product that has limited benefit.

Blowouts
I like the homemade version and will probably look into that a bit in the early spring. We bought Tire Minders and rely on them for early warning. Not perfect but better than hoping.

I think I'll stick with good tires, regular inspection, a TPMS system, no overloading, sensible speeds, and carry insurance.
Price of shields for my trailer is same as two full sets of GY Endurance tires with $$ left over.

Their web site states that the curved portion is made out of 14 ga (.0747) thick steel. Not too thick.

I doubt it will prevent damage if a tire throws it's entire tread. I had that happen to a utility truck at 70, and it caved in the bottom of the left rear cabinet, took out the fuel fill pipe, AND put an inverted dent in the rear diamond plate bumper. I actually felt it lift the rear of the truck. The tire didn't go flat but it threw its entire cap.The bumper alone was heavier steel than what those shields seem to be made of.
Maybe it would contain a lighter trailer tire, but I'd save the coin as opposed to that mod.

Might as well cut a Farm Stock Tank down the middle. Not near as thick but 1/4 the cost. That would have provided at least some protection for my electric and gas lines under my slide-out when I had a blow-out a few years ago.
Realistically I'm afraid it would take some really serious steel to protect from the force of a tire coming apart. Worked in an auto shop for several years and saw first hand that not even 50's/60's cars could stand up to that.

Did anyone ever observe the cage used at tire shops when inflating truck tires? It is a generous number of 2" steel bars. I don't think 14 Ga steel will slow down a thrown tread one bit.
I like an earlier post,..... check tire pressure regularly, use a TPMS, don't overload, check and replace tires based on age, don't speed in excess of posted speed limits, and pay attention to road debris by not following too close to the vehicle ahead.

Very sceptical as well. This video is obviously staged. Looking at the video, there are no pieces of tread coming off. The film clips are short. This is what causes most of the damage. Yet, still framing the tire is blurry and, for me, covered with adverts. However, it appears there is no tread on the blown tire. So, is the ad leaving an important part out?

Tires barely clear the underneath of the slide. The design of these would have them moving up and down with the axles. Don't think there is adequate room underneath for clearance between them and the tire, and them and the slide. I know some may have more clearance, but mine certainly does not. Also wouldn't clear the slide support mechanism/ I'll stick with TitanMike's plan. Nice try though.

Probably good for the water but doubt that a tread flaling would be stopped.

I saw this. I understand the unit will fit some RV trailers but not all. Looks substantial enough plate steel.
I am looking for videos on Youtube as I can't post here.

suggestion about TPMS systems. Check the response time to display a pressure change. Some are REALLY slow and won't give you immediate warning of a blow out. That is critical to getting pulled over before too much damage occurs.
