You should report your findings to Forest River. Its surely a safety concern and they are obliged to do a recall if deemed unsafe by them or NHTSA.

You can check for recalls as well, after the trip.

Many thanks.

I was surprised and shocked to find out I may have had a few recall notices. After our first camp we took our camper back to the dealer for the usual minor items to fix, and while they had the camper I searched recalls based on the refrigerator fire I heard about. Well come to find out we had open recalls. What shocked me was why wouldn't the dealership check recalls before delivery while they are prepping for delivery?

In addition certain equipments may have a recall that isn't on the above links, for example dometic refrigerators had a recall but it only showed up dometic website not the FR recall or .gov websites.

Guess it is only a recall if you are lucky enough to find it !!!

NOT RIGHT !!! Our Government should make these Campaigns make people aware of all recalls,,, like the Auto Campaigns must do !!!

When a trailer is purchased new the owner is provided with a package or information in the vehicle owner's manual about items that are not covered under the trailer's warranty blanket. If the new owner does not fill-out and submit such documents they cannot expect to ever be notified about recall actions not covered by the trailer warranty.

You can look here...https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners...ues?prodType=E

There are a lot of equipment items that are not reported to their manufacturer when the vehicle (trailer) was purchased.

The system cannot tell someone there is a recall on an item of equipment if they don't know you own or have position of it.

Prospective buyers should put a note in their PDI to insure they send in all equipment warranties when they purchase their new trailers. The trailer seller must provide them or reference them in the owner's manual.

I got all that but in my opinion there should be a consolidated system to check for recalls based on the brand and not the individual component manufacturers. I don't have to track down Sony or Bose when my vehicle's stereo is on the blink or a speaker is blown.

I realize it's an ancillary sub component but I'm talking for major items like the refrigerator that may cause a fire, the trailer manufacturer should know this component has an issue.

Of course tires on a vehicle are always the exception. One has to get an additional road hazard warranty for claims and that isn't usually offered at a dealership at time of purchase.

But again for major big ticket items that pose a significant threat or risk, the trailer manufacturer should be abreast of component information and or recalls.
