Tire Size

I notice something odd lately about my tires ( Goodyear Marathon)
Tandem Axle
The space between the tires on one side was 1”, the other side is 3”.
I referenced the specs on tire diameter:
28.3”
Two tires measure 28.5”
One measures 29.5
The other on 30.5”
All are the same size tire:
ST225/75/15D
The largest tire is not flat across the tread. It has a rounded look and s small hop to it. My investigation came about after I notice the window frame supporting the door glass the 4 tabs were broken. I will have to investigate the shock. But the tire size and tire/axle spacing got mg attention.
Hopefully I can find replacement tires x2.

I found a problem like that on a friends trailer and it was that one tire had separation from the cords to the tread but held air it was a full 2" larger then the other tires. It looked as you described. Maybe durning manuring the side force caused the tread to separate. Something to consider and check. good luck let the forum know what you find.

Both tires had ply separation.

I have owned a number of campers and trailers with Goodyear Marathon ST tires and every single one of them, without exception, has had deep cracks and tread separation where the tread joins with the sidewall. I’ve probably replaced close to 10 of these now.
1 is nothing, 2 is a coincidence, 3 or more is a pattern. In my experience the pattern has been FIRMLY set and I will NEVER buy one of these tires. They are a disaster waiting to happen!
Bad tire.

Been made in the US since 2012. US Bombs!!

Interesting Article.
It is a shame the quality and reliability are so poor. The availability of good quality tires is limited. It amazes me the NHTSB does not get this hazardous problem fixed. Just think if car tires had such a bad report.
And tires are not cheap!

Tire psi’s and temps were fine prior to the blowout. Did we hit something, Hmmm
I don’t think we did but it went out with a big “BANG”
At least it happened only 1.5 miles from an exit.
