I rented a Uhaul trailer this week to move some stuff from Tampa to the BR area. On my drive home, I saw at least 4 RV trailers on the side of the road with blowouts. I started thinking about how Uhaul could not send a spare with its trailers and not worry about losing their butts by having roadside assistance change blowouts constantly. I did some digging into the type and ratings of the tires on my rental trailer and compared them to what came originally on my travel trailer. The results were pretty interesting, to me anyway.
I made a short video discussing all the numbers if you're interested.
The upshot of it is, Uhaul, a company that makes money by not having its trailer tires fail, runs very lightly loaded tires that are balanced and have metal valve stems.
