Tow Vehicle Tire Problem

So, this is for our tire experts out there.

Noticed this happening to my front tires only (so far - right more than left).

Bought them 10,000 highway miles ago (Goshen twice and Charleston once - both round trips). United Tire has put them in for a warranty claim, but nothing yet. They initially made noises about "tire cuts from rocks", but when I balked they decided to send photos to Goodrich. They are Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.

These are just "samples" of the tread departure and they are every 6-8 inches around the tire in the same general rib.

What are my claim's chances?

Start with an alignment and if your shocks have over 60k on them most likely could use a set also.

I've heard some people eat up the BFG's fairly quickly in HD trucks, but I haven't heard of them losing chunks. Is the load rating correct for your truck?

I would push all the way for pro rated replacement. They are on the front tires, not the ones that suffer the brunt of the abuse like the rear. Having the alignment sheet from install will help your case. If it were chunking due to gravel then all four tires would have the same symptoms.

Alignment checked good; I do have 86,000 on the truck...

Yes; E rated like the previous set and the OEM before those. I upgraded the tire size to comply with 3500HD SRW specs when I put the 3500 spring and suspension set on my 2500HD. (No, I know the GVWR did not change "officially". The paperwork was going to be ridiculous.)

That's what I told the salesman at United. He caved immediately, so he was just doing his job trying to duck Mfr. responsibility until called out.
