TT Proper Tire Inflation Pressure

Ok, have a question for the group so here goes. If this doesn't make sense please let me know and I will clarify.

From what I understand we should inflate our tires to meet our scaled TT weight, so based on what I weighed my TT axle weights to, my loaded axles weight ready to go camping is 7,020 pds. Since I'm unable to get actually per tire weight I understand you divide 7,020 by 2 then multiply by .53 to get per tire weight. The .53 is a fudge factor to the safe side.

7,020/2 = 3510
3510 X .53 = 1,860 lbs per tire

According to the Goodyear Endurance chart for my tires, ST225/75R15 I need to inflate to 40lbs plus added in an additional 10% = 44lbs. Right now I am running them at 80lbs.

This seems really low to me, what do you folks think? Or is this all hooky math?

Unfortunately, you're going to get all kinds of conflicting information. There is already an active thread on this very subject... HERE.

Are you running the OEM size and load rating? If so, inflate to what the sticker says on your trailer. If they are bigger and a higher load rating, use inflation table with a margin of 10% or the PSI on your sticker, whichever is higher.

If your tires are the same size and load range as came with the TT, just inflate to the pressure shown on the sticker the factory put on the side.

Don't go less and if you have upgraded to the next load range up you can add more.

How much more? Up to the max shown on the tire sidewall. If your old tires weren't overloaded I'd just split the difference to make sure you have reserve capacity without creating a really harsh ride for the trailer and all it's contents.

No, original tires where Castle rock load range D these are GY Endurance load range E.

I run my E rated tires at 80 psi . They run cooler. Heat is a tire killer and helps trailer roll with less resistance.

I follow the guidance offered by Roger Marble the tire engineer guy who writes on RVing. According to him, TOWABLES should always be run at the max CIP. You can look up his blog for reasons.

I did the same tire swap and run mine 5 over the sticker for an extra safety margin. Running at 80 will give a rougher ride for no reason. The load inflation chart matches my sticker so it is also 5 over the chart.

Almost. Cold inflation pressure. Ideally, vehicle has not moved and tires are not in the sun.
