Undercarrriage repair

Hi guys/gals.

After 14 years of hauling RV’s I’ve had my first tire blow out. Right rear tire. Psi was 78 and went down normal roads I’ve been on multiple times. None the less a blow out. Fender etc thankfully was still intact.
Question I have is the mesh type material that is used in undercarriage , what is it and where can I get?

Google black mesh tape which is what I used to repair slight damage to my RV from a tire blowout.


My last ST tire blowout was several years ago on a brand new tire about 20 minutes back from the tire store.

I now have light truck tires and tow worry free.

I was at some seminar where they were talking about how often the source of a water leak is the wheel well area. I asked about coating the tire area with bed liner spray to waterproof it. Presenter thought it would be a good idea...
Maybe you can forgo the fiber stuff and just spray it.

I will look into the tape.

As for the spray liner that would be nice too but with insulation there to keep cold out from under counter etc I need to add it back


So when I find the tape where can I find the material. I have about 3 sqft or more to cover.

Hi Minty and Everyone,
It's good to find someone else with my problem.
While in heavy traffic, we were forced to run over a coil of cable in the road. Later, we discovered that the fabric underneath had been ripped to shreds.
(I didn't even know there was fabric under the RV.)
Our dealership wants about $500. to repair/replace this fabric. YIKES !
Does anyone have a good do it yourself method ?
I sincerely appreciate any and all ideas.

I’ve use this brand before. If you search for the scrim shield tape on Amazon there will be many choices

The stuff is super sticky so you want to work with small pieces and overlap At the seam. they make a very good watertight seal

depending on what the actual damage is... I look to Gorilla tape in 3 inch width... that is tough stuff with double the sticky side stuff...

then if the area is real large, get a cheap HFreight tarp and cut to size. Fasten it up there with staples or self-threading 1/2" SS screws. Then spray the penetrations with the rubberized undercoating stuff that comes in spray cans. Maybe spray some sticky stuff under the tarp before putting it up there.

I think you can get creative...
