The rear side of the axle tube is drilled to allow the brake wires to be passed thru to the right side brake. In my case, I ended up with several 5200 lb axles that had been assembled incorrectly. The quality in manufacturing and assembly has gone down hill over the past few years.
You know I never knew that , I only thought steering axles had toes, shows. You what I know thanks

Anyone know how to get hold of Forest River. I have a seized
bearing & want to order a new axle. It's a Dexter Axle custom
made for Forest River. IE not a stock axle. My trailer is a
Rockwood Mini Lite. Axle is marked capacity 2200 LBS.

You can order it from lippert themselves, either on line or over the phone. Unless your in warranty yet. Look it up at LCI.COM. Phone # 574-537-8900.... By the way what makes it custom? Just out of curiosity.
