Actually there is still a hot wire on that plug at all times unless you take cables off battery . i don't see an issue with the set up but 12v is still there even when not hooked to TV

Yes...so what? It's not going to ignite anything! You could have a stream of propane pointed at it and nothing will happen!

And folks are sitting on 12v plugs and motors submerged in gas tanks in every late model vehicle made and they don't give it a second thought.... LOL
