Smile which tpms??????????

Okay here goes
Wondering which tpms to get
Tst 507 4 sensor or Tireminder a1a 4 sensor
This will be for 5th wheel (truck already has tpms)
does either system automatically cycle thru all tires
or do you have to do it manually. I would really appreciate
answers from those who have one or the other and your
experience with them

Thanks RonG

TST 507. Cycles through all sensors automatically and has a settable alarm. Set it and forget it...replaceable batteries as well. My experience is quite good.

I have the TST 507. The only down side, that I have found is that it is difficult to add air.

RonG, you can do a search for TPMS and find plenty of info.
That said, I have the TST 507 system with flow-through sensors (meaning I can add air without removing the sensor - just remove a standard valve stem cap). This monitor does in fact cycle through the sensors automatically. I've heard TST is planning to announce a color monitor.

I have the non-flow through sensors. Difficult to add air...but I never seem to need to add air anyway. They are lighter and shorter...helps to have metal valve stems...but I already had those anyway.

I'm shopping for one as well. My research is pointing me in this direction.

I have the 507, works great for me. I took the locks off, when I add air I just unscrew the sensors. I have rubber stems on truck and metal stems on camper

I've honestly not read a whole lot of bad about any of the 3 major brands: TST, EEZTire, and Tire Minder. I know more people using the first 2 than the last one, but I believe that Tire Minder offers a longer warranty period.

The RVTireSafety blog has a page that offers how to pick the best one. They're sponsored by Tire Minder, but they don't come out and recommend that one:

I installed a tire minder system in Moab, traveled to Glacier NP, then down to Red Lodge MT. Somewhere around Columbia MT, I threw the Tire minders in the garbage. They kept sending false signals (both Rv tires), then they just shut down. Pulled into a parking lot, replaced all the batteries, took forever to get the module to see the sensors, and then the signals would drop and this was while I was standing next to the tire with the module in my hand, so doubt it was due to a great distance.

Finally got fed up and tossed them into the garbage; that was after I smashed the module with my size 11.

Got back to Moab, did some more research and ordered TST 507; never had a problem.

How difficult is it to remove the locks? I haven't studied one yet, but I might be interested in removing mine also.

I have flow-through sensors and they don't have locks... just Allen head set screws (Allen wrenches included).

I called TST and was told that the flow-through needed metal stems but the screw on did not require metal stems. I took the locks off, it just made the sensors lighter. I have at least 75,000 miles on my 3500 Silverado and have never had a problem. The sensors on my tires stick out past the rims, at least on the truck. My 15 Cedar Creek has metal stems, I have G614 Goodyears on them and I run 110lbs.

TST 507 with flow thru sensors...
from
Great RV Products

5,000+ miles no problems... ordered extra batteries for when I need to replace them on the sensors

I put 1/2 inch thick sticky foam under the sensors to limit their travel with my rubber stems... when I buy new tires this summer I will get metal stems installed

I have had the 507 system on both my truck and my 5th wheel for almost two years now with out any problems. Last year on our Grand Canyon trip they saved us twice from being stuck on the side of the interstate when I had one tire on the camper pick up a nail and then three days later one of my truck tires picked up a screw. Both times I was alerted to the lower air pressure and was able to find a good exit off of the interstate to get the tires changed. Well worth the money that I spent just for the peace of mind. I also like monitoring the tire temperature as well as the tire pressure.

Made up my mind and finally bought a TST 507 system for my TT. Vulcan Tires has a good price and adds on an extra year of warranty for free fright now.

Good idea on the foam. I went down to a local tire store to have the wheels balanced and get metal stems, the tire guy says mine are heavy duty and should be able to take the extra weight. He says the metal stem is simply covered with rubber and the ones on it are rated for more than 65 psi. I don't think they had the right valve stems from my wheels, is more like it. I think I'll just do the foam for peace of mind.
