Brakes

I have a 2017 3150 and I get an intermittent check brake wiring on dash and when it does that there are no brakes. Has anyone had this problem and what might cause it. Thanks, Don

Look for loose connection to trailer.

I'm guessing F-150 instead of 3150...

generally this is warning you that there is a bad connection on the brake wire somewhere...

I use the stuff posted below on the plug and socket to keep these problems minimized...

however, I looked at my trailer when it was new in 2014 and found the brake wiring at the wheels was just hanging loosely, ready to be ripped off by anything laying in the roadway. I covered them with wire loom and tied them up to the axle with zip ties. Be prepared to just crawl under and take a peak at your wiring at the wheels.

No, the OP posted this in the Cardinal sub-forum and the 3150 is a Cardinal model.

donabevd

what are you using to tow this trailer with?

I am assuming that the dash light on the tow vehicle is showing the error message...

If so then it usually indicates a loss of connection with the trailer brakes, and you indicated as such because you said and when it does that there are no brakes

again I assume you are talking about the trailer brakes being lost?
and this happens only for a moment? How many times?
Does it happen early in the tow, or throughout the tow?
on bumpy highways, or smooth roads?

Again it is PROBABLY going to be a bad connection... just trying to narrow down where the problem might be in the wiring harness.
