Hurricane Season 2014

Well its time to start planning my seasonal 5 month trip to get out of Louisiana before hurricane season comes around. the past couple years were very light for us but I have a feeling that streak is about to run out. Anyway with working out of the country I am looking for a few destinations that I will be able to leave the camper and my wife while I am out of the country. Last year it was North Louisiana (Shreveport, Monroe, and a few places in between. This year we are looking at out of state any suggestions. I will need places that have airports with in reasonable distances that will get me to Houston TX as thats where I have to leave the country.

Austin, TX is nice...and only 2-3 hours from Houston. I've only been to Austin for a short stay last Fall, but was impressed enough to book a month at a RV resort this March/April. Lots to do there. Good luck

There are a couple in ne la that are far enough from the gulf not to be affected by hurricanes: a state park at Delhi and a community park in Oak Grove (this oak Grove is in nela...). The one in Oak Grove is full hook up 50 amp and cost about $75/wk. Both are about 30 miles from monroe that has direct flights to Houston . Oak Grove is where I road out rita. It's about 5 hrs from iowa. This isn't west of you but the airport is easy to get to and less than an hour away.

Fredericksburg, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fredericksburg (Texas ) - Campground Reviews - RV Park Reviews

68 miles to San Antonio Intl.

Further west . . . look into Deming, NM. We liked Hidden Valley Ranch
