No Radio?

Just took delivery of a new Cardinal 3525sox and it didn’t come with an am/fm radio installed? What’s up with that? I asked about but the dealer said some just aren’t equipped. Not that it is a huge deal but still, you pay good money and they don’t include one? It has every other bell and whistle but I love my radio.

Anyone else have a similar situation? What was your solution of wiring one in?

Thanks all!

Did you not find this when you did the PDI if a radio is important you should have not excepted the rig or forced the dealer if he wanted to close the deal to install one. With that said I would be lost without my talk radio.

Sure did but the answer was it just didn’t come with one. We were too excited to wait any longer to take it home so we sacrificed. But, there has got to be a way to add one in. Looking for thoughts/ideas from all the helpful folks on this forum.

One other question I couldn’t get an answer to is that there are two cables in the basement. One is clearly a TV coax in case I wanted to put a TV in there. But there is also an RCA audio cable coiled up as well what would this be for? Our unit does not have outdoor speakers (has the JBL flip portable speaker instead) so I’m puzzled by this cable. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We have a 2017 Cardinal 3456 and it does have an AM/FM radio CD/DVD player built in to the surround sound with the TV audio as well. You don't say whether your 3525SOX is a 2018 or 2019 - but both SHOULD have AM/FM radio according to these specs.

Here's for the 2018: https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2018-...525sox-tr36954

And for the 2019 it even shows a BOSE radio: https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2019-...525sox-tr41117

I'd be having a conversation with my dealer.

Frankly, a lot of times these thing come with the cheapest radios possible just to say it has one. I'd just buy a decent one and install it myself.

It’s a 2018. I read same stuff. Might have to reach back out to dealer. It does have the Bose surround sound bar and the Samsung DVD player just no am/fm.

If he bought a 2019 - this makes it sound like it should be a BOSE and that certainly isn't a cheap radio.

They do not install radios anymore . Go figure. Cutting costs without cutting price .

In our River Stone Legacy it is in the dvd player in the entertainment center, speakers inside and out. Thought it was standard in most now that way, maybe I learned something new today. Keep us posted.

Not only that I bet they state somewhere that options etc are subject to change at their discretion.

Mine came with an am/fm but it doesn't pick up any am stations. I suspect it's because there is no antenna.
I'm using a small battery operated portable that works fine.

My sense here is the OP has the latest technology in his 5er;

1-a much better than typical RV DVD player (probably even has HDMI, maybe Blueray) and premium sound system for that DVD player.

2-has a good portable BT Speaker to use with cell phones.

I rarely find my RV peers use the built in radio but favor BT instead. I recently replaced my junk IDRIVE am/fm/DVD with a Jensen that i got a great deal on at camping world. Jensen JWM60A AM|FM|DVD|CD|USB|AUX|App Ready Bluetooth Wallmount Stereo with App Control, Plays: CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, MP3, DVD-Video, MPEG-4, VCD, JPEG, CD-DA, MP3, WMA, Dolby https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07957QKYY..._yW98Cb0H0P841

When I tell my RV peers i did this for usability (audio quality not much different) they look at me like i am nuts.

RVs usually have crummy radios.
Another option is to take your rig to an car stereo shop and have a quality unit installed by a pro. Then it will be better than new.

Hi Chaps2018.

Does your JWM60A output audio to the tv or do you just use the RV speakers? I purchased a JWM60A since it had the audio outputs for the TV but cannot get the sound to the TV speaker. Camping World sent me a replacement with the same result. Manufacturer just tells me it should work as is.

We have a 2015 Travel Trailer with a swivel box and like to watch DVD's in the front bedroom is the only reason I need this to work.

Thanks for any input.

You just spent about $80,000 on an RV and you are concerned over a $50 radio. Boy do you have a lot of surprises ahead.

Have a cell phone ? have a music app ? Get a decent Bluetooth speaker and be happy. We have a Furion player in our Cherokee with outdoor speakers, but I used my phone and bluetooth speaker 99 percent of the time. Now the speaker (Bose) is down at our cabin.
