Show us your Phoenix Mods!

Its been awhile since I was on the forum last and have completed several mods and upgrades since this whole COVID-19 mess started. What else am I suppose to do?? LOL

So here is the mods/upgrades I completed this year. And look forward to see what everyone else has done to their Phoenix as well.

1. Added Hatchlift shocks to the front storage door.
2. Upgraded to a 43" Roku TV from the original 39" and yes it makes a difference.
3. Added JT Strongarms to the front landing gear.
4. Replace the loop towel holder with a 3 hook towel holder.
5. Replace standard outside shower with Quick connect outside shower.
6. Added Surge Guard surge protector and remote display unit.

Almost forgot. Its not a mod, but thought some might like it.

I have three 3D printers and like to design things and print them. Here I designed a jelly packet holder for the camper, as we use jelly packets instead of carrying jars of jelly that usually expire before they get used up.

Well apparently we are the only ones who have made mods or upgrades to our Phoenix 5ver. Actually I find it hard to believe that is true. Come on show what you done!

Because You Asked!

Guess I never considered these changes to be Important to others, but I
did make a few alterations, or as I call it, put our stink on it. I'll not
include photos, I think you'll get the picture;

1. Like you, I installed hooks on backing board to hang clothes where the
hand towel ring was over the toilet, stupid factory placement, re-installed
it next to the sink, where it belongs, plus a nice hook on the
sliding door for whatever.

2. Then I installed a towel bar in the shower so we could get to towels
after bathing.

3. Installed coat hooks on backer board in the bedroom for convenience.

4. Relocated the battery box, opening up room in forward storage.

5. Installed rod holders in mid-storage compartment for you guessed it.

6. Put a door holder on horizonal door to prevent wind from blow it closed
or into my backside.

7. Removed the auto level control mini panel, re-routed wires to forward
propane storage compartment making it hand held. There is enough wire
that I can now see the pin and hitch when connecting-up.

8. Replaced ceiling fan, that put out little to no air when with a 2
blade fan that fits between slides when closed and hangs low enough
from ceiling to put out lots of air.

9. Replaced all red and amber exterior lighting with LED fixtures.

10. Installed metal plates to bottom of slides to prevent wear to Darco
material caused by slide rollers. Seems I'm the only one that is
having this issue. Yes, when I called to complain, factory sent new
rubber wiper with no instructions of new placement. It isn't as
tall as the old wiper, so I Paid my local RV dealer to install.

11. New wheels due to cosmetic etching in clearcoat.

I have been very disappointed with the quality and build of the
SHASTA/PHOENIX. The warranty department has been good,
but let me know quickly the Rain Water Leak in the bedroom slide that
has soften the floor, was not be covered and we were out of warranty. It
would now be up to me to get it repaired. These issues and a few others
that I've corrected, make this a lesser RV than they lead me to
believe. I could go on but life is to short. I think we will be looking for
another RV soon if Problems Continue, just not a FR RV again.

I personally would like to see pictures of these mods, as I think most would be interested in them. I know I am.

Well Ihave not taken many pics of the mods but here are a few I did
1. Got rid of the dumb towel hooks and added towel rack.
2. added lots of puck light in cabinets
3. Installed tooth brush and cup holder to wall closest to shower door.
4. Added door nobs to kitchen sink cupboards as only had indentation for finger pull. It comes in handy to hang pot holders.
5. Hung various pictures.
6. added wall clock to living and bed room area.
7. added Cricket carrier to rear of camper. Works great.

8.added spice rack to wall by stove.

9. Added round towel holder to other side of medicine cabinet
10. Added handle to bath sliding door as magnate pretty stron and no where to really grasp to open door.

Few things left to do will get there eventually. Later RJD

Battery box - What did you do about the hole that was already cut into the floor of the storage compartment? I have been wanting to move the box as well, as it is a PIA where they placed it at the factory.

Used some old political yard signs on the inside, covered most of floor area, Awning repair tape on the underside. Water tight, and holding so far. You'll have to add spacers to bottom or grind off the protruding lip on bottom of battery box. You can screw the battery box down again, I didn't. Weight of battery keeps it from roaming to far, vent tube and bat cables help, and if rv flips, where the battery goes is the least of my worry.

Yet, another Mod to the Shasta!

Another MOD I forgot to mention, I replaced the King Mattress (Cheap, Junk), my opinion, w/a quality 9" Queen Gel/Foam mattress and 2" topper, WHAT an Improvement. Now we have more room, sleep better, and I don't dust the wall with my backside or turn sideways when going to bed. Had to trim plywood platform with a power saw making a mess, but well worth it, Promise.

Our latest mod. Replaced the pinbox with a Goose Box. Best decision I have made so far....lol I previously had the Pullrite 2600 Singlepoint hitch installed, which is the same as the Anderson hitch but with an inverted ball on the pinbox, which is now for sale.

Lift Kit

My stock 2006 F350 only had 4" of clearance from the bed to the underside of the 5th. the nose ran up.
I had 3" blocks added to the springs and was able to raise the bed hitch 1.5" and now have 6" of clearance. The suspension brackets were very short so no cross member needed to stiffen the supports. Tracks great, rides level.
I think the blocks & install was about $500, but with wheel maintenance it was a $800 bill. well worth it.
