Winterizing unit that has washer dryer

I have the washer and dryer option on my camper and have never used the the water side. Is there anything I need to do. I blew out lines except never opened the one that goes to the washer does it need to be bled also? Later RJD

The question then is do you open the facets to clear? I wounder if being high up in the camper that it would drain by opening the low drain valve. Later RJD

ON cottage washers its really simple.I would expect RV are the same.

Disconnect the feeds and drain them , pour a quart of RV antifreeze into the washer and run it on spin for a min.

On spin, the washer water pump will empty the unit . Done.

Yes these need to be winterized too. I connected short hoses to mine and run into empty antifreeze jugs.

Washer/Dryer winterizing

I would assume those connections are just like an outside shower. Even though they are not used, they still have water in the lines.

After talking to the RV tech at my dealer who is very knowledgeable he agreed with me that after I had blown all lines out then you open the low drain points and that should drain the lines that are used for the washer. Remember this is a 5th wheel and where the washer would go is at the highest point in the camper. Remember I have never installed a washer and never use the system. Now when I do get ready to add antifreeze he recommends opening the facets to allow the antifreeze to flow out and make sure to have small bucket to catch. Thanks to those that replied. Later RJD

I'd agree with your assessment RJ.

Also, once you do pull antifreeze through the washer supply lines (and into a bucket) and then close the supply valves to the washer, (trapping that antifreeze in there) you should never have to worry about those lines again unless you'd somehow open the valves and push water through it.
(Assuming you have shut-offs to those lines?)

Here is a little tutorial on winterizing the washing machine I found. It is for Class A, but should be beneficial for towable RVs as well
RV Washer Winterization
The winterization procedure you follow for your RV washer depends on the brand of washer that you have in your motorhome. I’ll cover the 2 most popular, Splendide and Whirlpool with instructions directly from their websites.

You should always consult the manufacturers’ website for models specific to your RV.

Splendide Washer Winterization courtesy of their website:
• With the machine power OFF, turn the WASH TEMP knob to HOT
• Advance the Program Selector knob to REGULAR in Cotton Heavy Duty
• Press the ON/OFF button (IN) and let the machine fill until antifreeze is in the drum
• Advance Program Selector to a RESET. Wait 5 seconds (Status/Door Lock LED will blink)
• Advance Program Selector to a SPIN position. Let the antifreeze drain from the drum
• Advance Program Selector to RESET. Wait 5 seconds (Status/Door Lock LED will blink)
• Turn the WASH TEMP knob to COLD
• Advance the Program Selector knob to REGULAR in Cotton Heavy Duty
• Let the machine fill until you see antifreeze in the drum
• Advance the Program Selector knob to RESET. Wait 5 seconds (Status/Door Lock LED will blink)
• Advance the Program Selector knob to SPIN. Let the antifreeze drain from the drum
• Press the ON/OFF button (OUT).
Whirlpool RV Washer Winterization courtesy of their website:
• Put 1 quart (1 liter) of RV antifreeze in the drum.
• Run washer on a Drain/Spin cycle.
• Unplug washer or disconnect power.
• Shut off both water faucets.
• Disconnect water inlet hoses from faucets and drain

Good info but I do not have a washer or dryer in the camper at the present time. It was plumbed for it tho. Later RJD

I see, well then the winterizing step for that is a bit easier. It would like winterizing a cold and hot water faucet

When we had our Cedar Creek WITHOUT the washer I would blow the water lines out from the hookups for the washer, that way it pushed the air to the lowest point. I would open all spigots until I only felt air coming thru starting high to low, I live in the North East area south of Philly never used antifreeze except down the drains and never had a issue. Now with the River Stone and washer and dryer plus water and ice in the fridge I do use the pink juice everywhere.

Thanks Renie. As I mentioned being that it is the highest point on the camper according to my thoughts and the dealer tech the water should drain down to the lowest point where one can open low drain points after blowing out system. Later RJD
