2 Hot 2 Camp

Is anyone camping in this hot weather? What are you doing to keep cool, and where are you going? The A frame just sits in our drive way, and we don't feel like going anywhere.

Same boat here. Between work and the heat we've been letting the AFrame hang out in the garage.

We also have a pool, and it's been getting a workout.

Anytime is camping time around our house. Went to the Grand Canyon in June and it was Hot Hot Hot.
Right now were waiting till the first week of August to go camping, people from work on vacation and lots of overtime.
We keep cool by staying in the shade whenever possible, drink lots of water and just have a good time.
We are going camping on our 39th Wedding Anniversary so we will enjoy each others company and a big steak on the grill and of course, a few cold ones to wash it all down.

Spent two days in San Antonio, visited Fredricksburg, C.W. Nimitz museum. Overnight stop in Beaumont, going on to Gulfport/Bay St Louis to play golf, with final destination Pensacola/Destin. Air in the trailer works fine for dinner and sleeping, rest of the time out exploring.

We just went camping in Michigan at my brothers property. It was so hot and humid, the dogs didn't enjoy it at all. The yamaha 2000 generator that I borrowed from my father couldn't run the AC

But I will be taking a friend to the GPAA gold claim in Buena Vista Colorado next month, it should be comfortable next to the Arkansas river at 9000 ft elevation!

We're going to a state park with a nice pool.
Probably Kentucky Horse Park. The have some shaded sites and a good pool.
They also have a paved bicycle path thru the countryside into Lexington.
We bike ride early in the day and spend the afternoon at the pool.
Then back to our place for frozen margaritas.

I would not go in this weather without AC!!!
97 yesterday afternoon on our back porch in the shade.

We're heading out again to a campground on the shores of Green Bay. AC and a shaded spot are a must, even still.

I do like the frozen margarita idea.

Every weekend we've been camping, but we camp next to the lake where our boat is.
The water cools us off it is a little more manageable.

At the KOA 1000 Islands in Mallorytown. It is hot but the owners are having wagon rides. They recommend that you wear a bathing suit and bring your water gun. Everyone is getting wet and having fun getting that way.

My wife and I made a commitment when we decided to buy our A-Frame to go camping year round. To date, we have camped almost every weekend since purchasing it late April. I know that it is a bit much, but it is very addictive.

Here in South Alabama, we try to select campsites in the shade and on the water (lakes and rivers) for the breeze. We bought a inexpensive large fan to use outside to keep the air moving if needed.

We've camped in 100+ degree weather several weekends, and we are wearing the "cool-cat" out. Its worth it.

In past summers, we couldn't "tent" camp in this part of the country. Our trailer has allowed us to enjoy the outdoors despite the heat.

Camped at our usual place in harrisville, pa. Lost the power there on one super hot day, that when I took the dog for a walk, I noticed three different campers sitting in their vehicles with ac running. It was a scorcher, but do not think I would go that far

Well you live in Iowa so I would head somewhere like North Dakota or Wyoming.

We just finished a match at the end of June in Cheyenne (its 64 there right now) and though it was 90s during the day it dropped into the 60s every night. At 6,500' you have to keep drinking because the air is so dry you don't realize you are sweating.

The Black Hills near Rapid City is a lot of fun. I don't know if you can get into places around Deadwood since the Sturgis Harley Rally ought to be ramping up. South of there is Lake Sylvan(?) and it is remarkably pretty.

When we headed to Cheyenne, we went through Iowa. Man there was a lot of corn. BTW, did I tell you we saw a lot of corn in Iowa?

Last July while camping with the N.E. Oklahoma FROGS temps got up to 105. Most of us ended up going home a day early. So we're not even thinking about it in this heat.

I took this pic today around 2pm. Our outdoor sensor is located under our patio cover on the east side of our house. About an hour or so latter we topped off at 110.5.

To make things worse, here at the house we haven't had a good rain in over a month even thought thee has been some storms close by. Close enough to hear the thunder, feel a breeze from the storm and smell the rain.
My lawn is brown and crunchy, so at least I don't have to mow. I'm watering some of our trees hoping to save them. We lost 6 last year due to the heat and lack of rain.
