2018 12rbst forest river coachmen A-frame

I live in California I recently purchased this unit and I did miss a few issues main thing was the large skylight was leaking and it weaken the side wall that the 2 brackets that hold what I believe it is called a torsion bar spring there is 1 at each corner of the trailer this one starts in the middle of the wall at the rear of the unit and goes just up the A frame part of the roof to help it raise. It dropped about an inch due to water damage. I need to get the pressure off the spring so I can reattach the brackets to the side wall. I went to forest river but they could not even help me with a dealer in my area to help me out. Has anyone had this problem?

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You might try a mobile RV repair tech. with that said there is a very smart group of A framers on the forum I'm sure someone will chime in with a fix soon.

Welcome.

Here's a recent related thread: https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...8s-241560.html

I've seen others. You might try the "search this forum" feature.

Its a pretty easy fix, you have to remove the ends of the bungee cords where they attach to the rear roof. Its best to back near the front of a garage a few feet out and separate the roof panels and rest the rear roof against the house, then tension will be off the springs. Here is a link, one of many on youtube on how to do this repair, its on an Aliner which is similar. For the skylight leaks use Eternabond 3 inch tape, this will seal the edge and no more leaks. https://youtu.be/cbz6_-PxZ7Q
