A 122 SXR Coming Soon!

I sold my A 122 today to a good guy from Va., and Monday I will be placing my order for a 2015 A122 SXR. I almost went to the dark side and was looking at the R-Pods, but I regained my senses and will stay an A-Framer.
The extra ground clearance, 15" tires, and extra storage will be welcomed.

I am special ordering the camper with no bubble windows on the roof panels, just the roof vent/fan. My A122 never leaked and the bubble window never gave me a problem after the initial issue. The corners cracked (Dealer installed new window and installed the 3M tape, Fixed). I just have no use or need for the roof windows and I know this after 3.5 years of camping in my A122.

My fingers are crossed that my wait time is not to long and by early spring I am camping in my new SXR.

That looks real nice. It shouldn't take to long to show up, our T21 was delivered within a month after we ordered it.

Thanks and that's good to hear. I am hoping it takes no longer than the end of March. Winter sucks, but this gives me something to look forward to.

I cheated and Googled "2015 A122 SXR" for some pictures of it. You can see the pictures of a stock A122 SXR, with the bubble roof windows, Here on RV Trader.

I'm jealous of those 15 inch rims and tires....

Nice! Do you do any off road camping? If so, the larger wheels will come in handy. Love the tan with black trim also. Mine is very similar with the lift and wheel upgrade, I still like the grate more than storage box. I hated those 13" wheels. Good on you, you will have big fun and adventure with that!

I wouldn`t call it off road camping, but I do like to get into remote sites. I do some over night and multi-day hikes, so the tent option is always there. I enjoy remote camping sites and the SXR will help getting there. I will take the trails super slow, because even though the trailer has a lift and 15'' wheels, it`s really not built strong enough to be beat on.

I was hoping to order an A122 BH with the same features but that was not going to happen, so I agreed on the SXR with no roof windows. The extra storage will be welcomed.

Come on spring time and my new camper!!!

I just extended the frame and add a diamond plate truck box to the back. I plan on putting my extra batteries and Honda Gen. in it. I have a very nice, free lakeside campsite 16 km from my house. You would think it's the middle of nowhere, but the terrain is rough. My new trick when boondocking is to dig holes to level, very stable. One more stability tip, replace the factory stabilizers, the Princess Auto ones are made of much heavier steel.

Do you have any pic`s of your camper? Sounds like you have some nice mods done.

The A122 SXR is very nice. But the first thing I would change is to remove the big "Rockwood" sticker on the front roof panel. That goes beyond pride of the manufacturer into billboard territory. I don't spend $12K to serve as a billboard.

camper pics

Here are the pics, none with the box installed. The bracket sure is purdy though. The only tricky part is finding a new home for the spare tire. I'm thinking of a 4runner style crank, up under the propane tank. The tong is quite high.

Are they using a different frame under that model than the a122 or just a lift block for bigger tires? Sure looks nice. Congrats

Thanks for the photos. Great looking camper and that site is the money.

I agree with the big Billboard on the roof, I am looking at replacing that with a custom vinyl image. My new camper would really look like a Billboard because it won`t have any windows to break up all of the surface area.

I am not sure, but I would guess that it is the standard frame with a riser lift. I like the thought of having a 15'' tire with a MT tread pattern to protect against punctures, it also opens up a better selection of tires to choose from. The important thing is that it looks cool

It's the standard frame, I did the lift myself. Here is a thread about a dealer installed lift and my own lift.

here is a radio swap too.

I didn't think that FR would sink the money in to a separate, low production, frame when risers would do the same job on a "standard" frame.

Since I have zero experience welding I plan on visiting Roberts Sales in Denver this summer and taking a look at their riser kits.

Stopped by the dealer to take care of some questions and paperwork, I should be picking it up next Tuesday. Took a few photos of the camper in the back lot, it was raining pretty hard so I didn`t bother opening it up.
