Still no snow here! It's making me want to take out the camper! If there's still no snow on the 29th I'm taking her out for a casino run!

Here's all I can offer you for now. These are from our first and only trip. I'll take some more when we go camping at a local state park over New Years!

Abby,
What park is that? Looks nice. Curious what state you are in since you are doing New Years camping. Anyone else planning on New Years camping? As mild as it is in Chicago, I have been thinking about it. Any northerners doing winter camping?

That is Cave Springs CG in Oak Creek Canyon just north of Sedona, AZ. It's a zoo during the summer, but it's nice and quiet in the off-season. There are nice big parking spots, but no hookups.

We're going to Catalina SP just outside of our home town of Tucson for New Years. They have electricity, but no water. There's lots of great hikes that start from there plus the scenery is fantastic. My dad will be here with his trailer, so we're going to go RVing together. That sounds so funny. We used to make fun of RVers.

Here's another photo from near the campground.

Awesome photos Abby! The southwest is fascinating.

I'm sure that you'll have fun camping with your Dad. Spending time with your parent in their element can put a different perspective on your relationship.

I drove through there the last time I was in Sedona, and thought it was a great park. Post more pics when you can.

Did you take the trail from Sylvan Lake to Harney Peak? We did that, on our last motorcycle camping trip before we got the A128. It was a bit of a trek, the round trip took us about 5 hours.

We did hike to the tower on Harney Peak. We left right from our campsite. Definately worth it. What a view!!
How would you have liked that commute to work everyday?
Here's a couple photos from the top

Hi all,

Hamguy's wife here. Decided to sign up and post on my own. Winter has finally arrived and according to our local weather gods we are expecting Snowpocalyse. We are currently hearing thunder and seeing lightening which only happens during heavy snow they tell us. Glad for all Lee's work getting us ready, as you can see. Thought you'd enjoy a few more Alaska trip photos. The little otter accompanied us out of Seward harbor. The young dancers shared their culture at the Anchorage Native American Cultural Center. Wonderful. This awe-inspiring vista greeted us in the Kluane wilderness as we passed back into the Yukon--a remote and rugged land. The grizzly family was fishing near the AnAn Bear observatory near Wrangell island in south east Alaska. Fun to revisit this wonderful trip.

Hi Courtenay!
Yours and Hamguy1's Alaska trip is one that you truly won't soon forget. We all enjoyed experiencing it vicariously through your posts along the way. You do a wonderful job chronicling the experiences with your camera! Thanks for sharing more photos of the trip in this thread.

Your aframe looks to be snuggled quite nicely under it's cover in your yard.

Regarding the "Snowpocalyse" predicted:
We've been hearing reports that Iowa will be getting hit hard. Please stay safe during the snow/wind/lightening storm. We had a couple of doozies roll through here last night! No snow, just rain, thunder and lightening... enough to make me sit straight up in bed. There are predictions of snow and major wind event here as well later today, especially in northern Illinois.

Here's wishing the power lines hold up for everyone! Be careful on the roadways folks!

Deb

Thanks Deb. Lost power for about 6 hours and are lucky to have it back--35,000 still without. Got close to 12 inches of heavy wet snow. Sounds like it's hitting you. Hope it tapers off. Here are a few pics. C
