A Frame roof won't latch

Purchased a used 2015 T12DDST Flagstaff A Frame. Driving back from our second trip and found that the latch hook that keeps the roof down broke off someplace on the road.

Something has shifted because the edge of the rear roof section is now lined up with the passenger side wall and can no longer lower all the way near the door.

I'm in touch with an RV repair place and waiting for replacement latch parts. Forest River recommended checking to make sure all the screws are tightened down at the hinge.

Anybody seen anything like this before that I could pass on to the repair person?

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. There some very knowledgeable folks on the forum when it comes to this type of rig I'm sure someone will chime in with answers or suggestions.

Forest River is correct. If the roof panel is misaligned (and it once was aligned properly), the problem is most likely at the hinge. Not a guarantee, but most likely.

The piano hinge could have loose screws, or screws that no longer hold. Or the hinge could be bent. Lift the fabric flap that covers the hinge and take a look.

With the latch on one side broken, it's quite possible the unbalanced lifting forces on the roof while towing may have caused something to give - most likely at the hinge.

just my thoughts

Just a heads up on these or any trailers when you find ANY screw or metal parts on the floor save them and look around and You will most likely see where they came from and then it is a lot easier to replace them and tighten them all up. I have my wife on the lookout for any items on the floor and she puts them in a drawer and I have to find where they go back to. And another tip do NOT overtighten the screws as they are only in thin sheet metal and the Lockdown top panel hinges go thru the walls and just tighten snug and maybe use some Locktigh on them.
