A122BH dormer stuck, won't open

We bought a new A122BH in March, and have camped with it twice. On the first trip, we were finally able to get the dormer to open after a good bit of pushing and tugging, but on this last trip we could never get it opened. The roof panel is fine, but the front panel is stuck and won't budge on the right corner (facing the unit). Has anyone else had this experience? Can someone tell me what's causing it? I'm really disappointed at this point, and regret spending the extra money for the dormer model. I haven't taken it back to the dealer because that's a 6-hour round trip - I'll be calling them today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Harry

Same problem, same corner

Harry,
We have a new Flagstaff T21FKHW with sticking dormer wall panel, the same as you describe. Have managed to get it open on several trips but worried I am going to damage the panel or break the window. Called our dealer and he said they have seen that problem before. It is due to some excess silicone sealant on the side wall panel which heats up and sticks onto the front wall panel making it hard to open. Have not looked yet for the excess silicone but will do so this weekend. Dealer said find it, scrape it off. The dealer's advice fits with the way it feels when opening the front dormer wall panel.

This afternoon I investigated what you suggested, and that is indeed what the problem seems to be. I gently pried the front panel loose, and found sticky, rough silicone caulk along that section. I'm not inclined to scrape it off, however, because that's the sealant for the panel base. I think that's something Forest River needs to deal with. I've attached a photo so you can see the situation. I'll be sending this photo to the dealer to see what they suggest.

Thanks!
Harry

Harry, I examined our dormer right side exterior wall carefully this afternoon and found the location of the sticky stuff that was attaching to the front wall making it difficult to open. Standing outside the trailer on a ladder, looking at the right side wall (with the dormer fully set up)- look way up high on the far right corner of the side wall near where the panel ends. There, I found an excess of really sticky sealant. Not like silicone but some really sticky stuff that does not set up like silicone. The other side side wall does not stick and did not have the excess of sticky sealant so I am pretty certain I have found the problem. I carefully scraped off the excess sticky sealant and while I have not tested the result, I am pretty sure I found the problem. Sorry I did not think to take a photo.
