Adding carpet or foam mat

Hi, I'm thinking of adding carpet squares or foam mat for warmth. I'm pretty sure someone has done that so I'm looking for thoughts. What would be better--foam mat squares or carpet squares? I don't want carpet squares that I have to do a "peel and stick" but the carpet or foam mat has to stay and can't come up accidently, like a throw rug. (I sometimes "shuffle"-but not to Buffalo - so it can be a trip hazard.)

I use a hand vac to keep the floor clean.

I appreciate any ideas and thoughts. Thanks so much.

Happy Trails.

So I dont have a trailer but as I type this, this is exactly what i a doing to my RV Cockpit -I decided to add Carpet to mine. It was a low loop industrial carpet that plan to cut to it
Your needs may be different, but maybe this will help -

You should be able to get by with Carpet Tape ... bet here is what I am doing

My plan is to first remove the seats or obstructions
Lay down Thermo-Tec Heat Sound Mat
Cut my carpet to fit
Use double sided carpet tape
Use 3M 94 Spray adhesive
Put seats back in

I'm not sure where you camp, but our floor always gets dirty. We have a rug that gives us the "warmth" that is easy to take outside to shake clean. Then we use a small broom to sweep the floor. Lots easier than having to vacuum carpet.

I have various throw rugs that I put down to cut down on the dirt and sand from grinding into the linoleum flooring. I have a great little vac that I use when I'm ready to pack up and move. Then roll up carpet and stow. Later RJD

Lot’s of sand or dirt always gets tracked inside. Throw rugs that can be shaken out or thrown in the washing machine later are much more practical.

Why not a piece of new remnant carpet cut to size. Cheap and decent quality. If your decent at doing layouts, it should be pretty easy working from dimensions. Or, it could be rough cut and cut to fit in place using a carpet or box knife.

Laying carpet was not my forte, but I custom fit a heavy rubber mat onto the floor of a walk-through windshield boat and carpeted three campers, and a cargo trailer. The boat mat was pretty complicated. Without attaching any of them, the wall/side edges held them in place, yet they could be removed for a deep cleaning.

Unless the carpet squares interlocked, they wouldn't stay in place very well. Even then, small pieces could be a problem.
