Broken catch on converter door

Sometime between one use and the next, the catch on the door of the converter in my hardside popup stopped working. It's the kind that I'd call a "push catch"--push the door shut to latch it, push it again to unlatch it. Well now you can push it in all you want and it won't latch. I suppose I didn't open that door more than 10 times before the catch failed. Is this something other hardside owners have experienced, and more to the point has anybody managed to fix theirs when it quit working? For now the door is taped shut, a simple but inelegant solution. The converter works fine but with the door falling open all the time it's going to get stepped on or tripped over sooner or later.

Can't say I've opened mine more than ten times, but so far it has been fine. Wonder if some appropriately placed Velcro may resolve the problem? Even better maybe a call to WFCO maybe in order.

If you have a WFCO Converter then it has a two-year warranty (Warranty Returns). With your unit being a 2011 you should contact them. If all else fails the Velcro solution by Jeep4Two sound simple enough.

I took the nonworking catch out; can see nothing that would hint at why it won't work. I've emailed wfco warranty service asking them to send me a replacement. Thanks for the warranty service link. We'll see what they do.

Well, an email to WFCO explaining the problem and asking for a replacement door catch resulted in a reply the next day saying they'd send a replacement right away. When the package arrived, they had sent me TWO catches, so now I have a spare. They seem to be an improved design. I appreciate their prompt and considerate response. Way to go, WFCO!

gee .. I wonder if i contact suburban with a replacement request for my faux finish fridge door replacement they would be that nice. I may have to do this .. but i may not have to too ... as the trailer is now in for some warrenty work to fix a few issues. The dealer when over my itemized list and agreed to all the warrenty work ... and told me it may take a few weeks, as they may have to order parts.
Anywhoo .. we will see how things go ... if i get a replacement .. that would be a big bonus .. and a cudos to the dealer for stepping up to the plate.

Here's hoping everything comes out perfect. But if you do have to contact Suburban, tell them you know of a guy in Iowa who covets their outdoor stove, the model that hangs on the table rail on the side of the trailer, and could they please send him a complimentary unit?

Can't hurt to ask...

I like how you think! Yes, that's the stove I was thinking of; the problem is they want money for it. Being of sound mind, I've already spent it all.

Wow...I went out and found that my door was broken too so I followed your lead. I received word that a latch is on the way. If this latch breaks I will go the velcro route. Thanks!
