Campfire when alone
This doesn't really have anything to do with our trailers but I was wondering. For those that camp alone, do you build a fire at night? I sometimes camp alone and will sometimes build a small fire.
I thought I'd do a small survey. Thanks for your input.

Heck yeah, put me in the yes column. I’ll do this at home after another long week. Very relaxing, along with a couple of beverages. Just make sure it’s down before leaving it.

When I camp alone, I always make a big campfire. When it’s a nice evening at home, I make a campfire in the back yard.

I don't normally camp alone, but my wife hates the cold, so on 50deg nights I sometimes build a fire and sit and enjoy it by my self.
I do enjoy inviting nearby campers over for a fire, conversation and a beer/wine. Conversation with people is an important part of civil society and also a lot of fun.

Sure. A couple beers (well maybe an exaggeration) and a fire can't be beat. I only drink when I'm alone or with somebody

Very good, you drink all the time.
Anyway, anytime is good for a fire!

I haven't camped alone, but if I did I'd want a nice fire to keep me company.

Yes. I don't usually build fires in the summer. I build great ones in the wood stove, in the backyard campsite and when camping alone in the spring and fall. The days get short by early November and a fire is very cheery. I build small ones and sit close. Sometimes it is just me, my Border Collie and a couple of owls.
I like to use a frame from a pop up canopy to hang canvas from an old tipi as a wind break. It reflects the heat and also the light. It makes sitting by a fire much warmer in the cool of fall.

I camp alone and will build a fire, usually in the AM when the temps start getting colder. i'll let it burn down as darkness comes so it's easier put out for the night.
I put my fire out at night just as if I was moving out of the campsite. Can't count the number of times however that I've arrived to find a smoking fire in the either a NP fireplace or boondocking site "rock ring".

Even if I want a short simple fire.....I carry fire logs.
No muss, no fuss, no sparks, no smoke.

Sure when you feel like sitting out either alone or with people . i have switched to a propane fire-pit that i use most nights . allows me to have instance flame sit for 1/2 hr hr or longer then just shut off when done . no smoke smell to worry about . use the wood for when people are around sometimes or when hunting . Elk won't spook with the smell of a camp fire like they do from the smell of human

Yes. I also have a propane fire pit for morning coffee or under the awning when it's rainy.

Yes, unless getting to camp at bed time. I don't camp to sit in the TT and watch tv.

Yes I always will have my propane fire pit. Some times I will have a real fire. Being that I'm widowed I have to have some kind of relaxation when camping. Later RJD

I love campfires, even by myself! I sort of miss them as we are often finding conditions not very good for fires in our seasonal the past few years. Four summers straight we go through periods of fire bans in Saskatchewan due to extreme dry conditions, or when it is ok to have fires, it's often been windy. This summer we went six weeks without a fire, including all of August. I'm hoping this summer brings better weather!

I also prefer to drink when I'm alone or if I'm with someone or if I'm with my dog or when it's dark outside or when it's light outside or just about any occasion. (just kidding)
Thanks
