Convert a single bed to twin beds?

Has anybody converted a single(queen) bed to twin beds?

Why? Are you trying to imitate the A213 (T21TBHW)?

The A213/T21TBHW only works because the bed is 76" long along the length of the trailer. This can give you 2 narrow (29" wide) by 76" long bunks when you remove the center and form an aisle. For tall people, 76" is too short. Even I, at 69", have to have my pillows right against the end of the bed to stretch my legs in the 76" available.

All other A-frame versions have at most 60" along the length of the trailer for the bed, which is too short for any adult. So the other versions (including the queen bed versions) all force you to sleep across the trailer (80" across on all models).

Have been camping ONCE in our new AFrame. The mattress (54x80) was too big for the space and caught on the countertop lips every time we wanted to get into the storage under. Not only that, but with the storage door open the mattress blocked the back skylight, and rubbed on the side drapes. Also, the mattress end was up in the air, IN YOUR FACE!!
Came home and cut the mattress in two. Therefore we had to remove the heat coil, but the aggravation of having to lift the mattress every time we needed to get into the storage under the bed was a real PITA. Wife made new covers for each mattress. Now we just slide one back on top of the other and they are out of the way all day. I also cut the storage compartment lid in two to leave it down next to the sink (thats where the cooler goes) and we bought a lounge cushion to go on the side that lifts up for an additional seat during the day.
Now we have easy access, no blocked windows, and no heated mattress!

Interesting modification. When we had our A122, we needed a topper on top of the mattress to sleep comfortably. Even though our mattress and topper fit correctly, the weight made lifting the bed to access the storage very awkward. We ended up just accessing the under bed storage from the outside access doors; only stuff that was accessed once during a trip (gray water bucket and hose and similar) was put near the front where we lifted the bed to get it.

If we hadn't sold the A122, I probably would have reinforced and added a gas strut to lift the bed. I did put hinges and a mechanical strut on the right side dinette seat to make that storage area more accessible.

I would love to see if anyone has modified the bed space like this with pics!! I just think there has to be a creative way to handle the permanent bed space to be more usable during the day!

This works for us. We can leave the bed made and lift the entire thing up (wife can as well) to access the underneath storage.

We sleep with our heads against the rear wall. I'm 5' 10". Much bigger could be an issue. It's wide enough that we don't have to crawl over each other getting in and out.

Probably not what you are looking for, but might spark ideas.
