Ordered a polycarb lexan from EZtops on 7-28-23. will post more as this hopefully progress's. The sealant to use is my question. Choices so far are a 100% silicone type or a butyl type like Surebond sb-140. Or as RSDATA posted:,"sounds like a job for Eternabond double-stick putty tape... no drilling required... then lap the outer-edge with regular Eternabond" Pricey but if it works might be worth the cost. Any help, opinions would be appreciated.
I am not a fan of anything silicone; difficult to remove and nothing sticks to it once it is installed. . .

threebeachboys,
Thank-you for the feedback and i'm beginning to see the reason's NOT to use silicone. Nothing sticks to it and it's a hassle to remove. The odds of having to replace a skylight because of a crack seems high in RV's. Mine lasted 8 years. EZtops replied to an inquiry that its a either or option with their polycarb sky's, so i'm going with the Surebond sb-140, followed with 2 inch eternabond tape over the flanges. If I go to AZ,with it's 3 digit temps may have to get some of those ceramic reentry tiles off an old shuttle. 8->

Let us know how it goes and how you like the Surebond.

BTW, I noticed you're from SE MI; I grew up there!

Update on polycarb skylight to fiberglass roof panel A128s

Received fresh new SL from EZtops, and I installed it. As far as a choice of sealant/adhesives, for this particular application. the best choice ,for me, was a fiberglass to polycarb friendly silicone GE-SCS1200. I tooled the excess completely, cured for 24 hours then applied 3 inch eternabond tape to outer edges of SL flange, over lapping at corners. I may follow this up with a polycarb/eternabond friendly lap sealant. so far this replacement has gone fairly successful, will update.
Eternabond say's it won't stick to silicone so I cleaned it (silicone) off the surfaces that the tape was used on. The tape was applied only to the polycab flange and fiberglass roof panel.

Skylight replacement chapter 2

So nearly a year and the new lexan skylight has been leak free and now I'm going to replace the second cracked skylight starboard side with exactly the same thing.I don't want to miss out on the best camping weather Michigan has to offer so I will do a temporary patch it up with eternabond tape.
