Cylinder Replacement

We just limped home from vacation. Our pistons that help raise the roof on a 2018 Rockwood 192 Hard Side pop up camper are broken. Well back one still works but need to reattach it to wall. The screws stripped out. The front piston still works but have lost the "clamp" that holds it on to the wall. We have duct tape it so it works.
Feel we need to replace it but cannot find a replacement for it. Can anyone help or advise?

You're probably going to need to post some photos. Your explanation is a bit vague.

Hopefully you will get some help.

Pistons

Figured out that they are gas struts and not pistons. Thanks to person having trouble with the actuator and wanted to raise the roof with a pole. Hope I order the right ones now:

Thought I would not have a problem finding the correct gas struts to replace the broken one on my Rockwood HW192 camper. there are two that help raise the roof on the camper. I need to replace one of them as it works but the tip broke so it will not stay in place. Does anyone know what gas strut to replace the broken one. It does not have any information on it and I cannot find anything in the owner's manual. Would love a suggestion on this one. The outside gas struts. The one that raises the inside door to the compartment under the bed pulled out but I don't think broke. Just need to reinforce where the screws go into the compartment wall. Seems all of the struts wanted to give us a fit on this trip.

Are there any numbers on the side of the actuators. That's where to start your search

Took some research when I was trying to replace the gas struts on the front roof of my T21TBHW. Model number usually contains force (in lbs) such as 40 or 60. It may also contain minimum or stretched length - the other 2 critical measurements. With force and the 2 lengths, ordering struts is easy.

Anything mounted to the sides of an A-frame that applies any force has to be through bolted with a backing plate. With machine screws and nuts, the mount and the backing plate clamp the wall between them and spread the load. Flagstaff/Rockwell just screws into the side - these will NOT hold in the long run. Also any fittings (strut mounts) on the outside need to be caulked to seal out water. If the nuts are visible, using acorn nuts can avoid cuts and scars and will improve appearance.

Replacing gas struts

With roof up use an awl or small screwdriver to open top ball joint and pull strut out. Repeat for lower ball joint. Replacement strut length can maybe be adjusted slightly by rotating joint relative to piston-Only some brands. If applicable lengthening strut will increase stroke to ensure full travel is achieved.

To install push lower joint onto ball, then upper joint while holding compressed to fit.
