Doing dishes

My wife does most of the cooking. So I do most of the dishes. I don't really like doing them inside the camper because of the small sink and slopping water onto the cushions Etc. I like using the outside shower for dishes. I have a little aluminum table that works great for it because it has a slotted top that lets the water drain. I didn't however like holding onto the shower handle while doing dishes. So I came up with this and it seems to work really well. Breaks down very small and fits in the cubby right next to the outside shower.Click image for larger version

That's nice. Good idea

But we wash dishes when it's cold. Or very hot. Or dark. Or 2 out of 3.

So that hookup intercepts the water from the kitchen sink preventing it from going into the gray water tank. Right?

It is an A-Frame. There isn't any gray water tank. Or black tank.

Since I’m not much of a builder, you gave me the idea of using one of those “ grabber” pick up things upside down.

When not using the camper I can shut the valve and avoid bugs getting inside. It stays in place even for travel.

As far as doing dishes, I use paper plates and throw them away after use. I save the plastic forks and spoons, washing them is easy in a small sink. Try not to use pots and pans when I can, use the grill for most cooking and the microwave when we bring pre-cooked foods. Rather be fishing then cooking or doing dishes.

Wouldn't the water in the trap under the sink keep the bugs out? I was going to put a valve in also but then thought about that trap.

Too many mosquitos down here to was dishes outside. We do our dishes in a dish pan inside the trailer.

Clever idea though.

I heard ants are often searching for water and can go into your drain to get it. Just what I heard.

Use a screen washer at the outlet hose connection instead of a regular open washer, if you're worried about bugs. Just be careful about what you put in your sink as far as food particles goes.

I just use the screw-on plastic cap that came with the trailer (2012, A-122) to seal off the grey water outlet when not in use. Simple, quick, and easy.
