Exclamation Exhaust Vent fan lock

We have a Flagstaff A-frame and every trip we take the vent fan locks comes loose while we are traveling and flapping. We are worried it’s going to rip right off. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on how to fix this?

Thanks

This is a pretty common problem.

While taking ours apart for cleaning i studied how the latch works and got it to work a little better. On ours it does no good to apply force. It's either locked or unlocked. It's not a friction thing.

I seem to recall a few threads on this in the past.. You may want to use the search function.

Our screw had broken off. I reinstalled it with some super glue and it worked great for 15k more miles till we sold it. It is just a #8 screw with a washer.

I have seen where people have taken a piece of roof flashing and installed it to create a diversion dam so that the air doesn't get under the lid

I put a MaxxAir vent cover on my A Frame. It is placed in a reverse position while traveling (opening facing aft), and then rotated 180 deg (opening facing forward) before setting up the roof. This protects the factory vent cover from wind while travelling and also allows the factory vent to stay open in the rain when camping - not that it ever rains in CA. :-)

What he said.

MaxxAir vent cover will end the problem by covering the vent

x3 on the MaxxAir vent cover. This is one of the better mods we did on ours. Big Vic's advice on re-positioning the cover for traveling vs camping is right-on.
