That's kind of funny. In my house I'm the cook. I could keep my tool box in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator and I doubt my wife would ever see it.
She's lucky to find the jug of milk.

How do you seal your opened caulking tube?

I've tried screws and plastic wrap . . . the caulk cures down the tip (getting wider as it goes) necessitating digging out the cured material. The tip end is getting larger and more ragged each time, the extruded stream is now textured and looks like a fancy cake decoration . . .

They sell caps for the end of the caulking tube at pretty much every hardware store.

Golf tees

I agree with others that the caulk will only last so long, but gold tees are tapered enough to sclog the hole real nice.

Aluminum foil

Plastic wrap has a “perm rate” that lets vapor pass. Aluminum foil does not. Make a blob of sealant and wrap with foil. Wrench it off and toss it each time. A gutter spike makes a good long reach down to the good stuff if you have one that has dried up.

I have used these with great success on a number of different sealing tasks.

I just let it dry and seal itself. Then when I need it I take a razor knife and slit the nozzle on the opposite side of the caulk flow, and dig out the plug. Then I wrap the nozzle with a piece of duct tape.

The only reason to slit the nozzle on the opposite side of the caulk flow is to avoid leaving a trail from the slit.

depending on how much you cut off the tip i use a large wire nut and electric tape . works for couple months but many times it will start curing from the tip down .

Same for me. I will put a large wire nut on and then the foil tape. Works well for me.

I have actually had good luck dispensing a healthy amount from the tip, rotate the tube until a dime size ball is formed at he tip and let it dry. Next time I need it, I pull on the glob and it pulls out a small amount of dry caulk from the tip, and it’s fresh behind it. Works 90% of the time.
