Keurig Coffee Maker in an aframe?
It seems that every camper I have owned has been kind of sensitive when running too many appliances or other electric things. I'm thinking about getting a Keurig K15 single serving coffee maker for my 2014 a122s aframe. On the bottom it says 1425 watts. What do you think?
Anybody else using a K Cup machine in your aframe?

Try a malita, you will find it easy, convenient, economical, smaller footprint, and just plain nice.

Thanks. . But I'm a lone camper.. want a single serving brewer k cup machine. Just concerned about tripping a breaker in the camper. Wondering what experiences others have had.

We use our single Keurig coffee maker in our A-frame. Works great and have never had an issue.

I don't have an A frame but it's a 30amp RV like my hybrid TT.
I use my Keurig in mine, whenever we have hookups.
I would think that you're fine running it, as long as the a/c or microwave aren't running.

1425 watts is essentially the same as a standard 1500 watt space heater. Lots of folks use those. You just can't usually run a microwave, the electric water heater element, or anything else that uses a lot of juice at the same time.
That being said, you really only need to run the Keurig for a few minutes. My DW just bought a K15. She says it only stays on for a few minutes while you're actually making your coffee, so I don't think you'll have any problems.
If you do have issues, consider a Mr. Coffee. We've used a 4 cup (really makes 5) Mr. Coffee for 5 yrs. It uses only 650 watts, but takes 5-7 minutes to make a full pot.
But the DW wanted the Keurig because she wants to make hot chocolate and says she can taste coffee if she uses the Mr Coffee just to make hot water. We haven't used it in the TT yet; will have to wait until next season.
But bottom line - I don't think you'll have any issues provided you don't run any other hi-wattage stuff at the same time.

1425 watts is less than 12 amps. You have 30 amp service, no?

We use one all the time. We have a 30amp pop up. Once, DW ran it with A/C on. The GFCI popped and did its job.
After that, we just turn off A/C and or water heater, and it runs fine.
DW loves it and has to have her coffee. Have fun.

We have a single cup Keurig that we use when on electric sites, and we're very happy with it.

Anybody use a Keurig with the reservoir? I think they keep the water hot all the time. And would therefore be a constant pull on the electrical system. So is the single serve a better way to go?

OK.. did a little research on my own question (above).. According to reports:
The Keurig brewer uses the most power during the initial start up. The brewer takes approximately three minutes to warm and about 1500 watts of power (12.5 amps).
If you brew several cups a day (five or more cups), it makes more economical sense to leave the brewer on. Your Keurig will only use somewhere between 200- 400 watts of power (less than 3.5 amps) to brew a K-cup since it is not heating the water from a cold start. However, you do need to consider that power will still be drained when your unit is sitting idle, about the same as a 60 watt light bulb.

So... considering all.. I may opt to buy the k50 instead of the single serve. I would shut off the electric water heater, microwave, etc for the initial start up. The one with the reservoir is priced the same as the single serve at walmart.

Do you have a frig and a/c as well? How many amps is your a-frame rated for? Depending on the rating you might not need to turn off anything, well, maybe microwave.

I have the K15 and it works well for the two of us. I chose not to bring my Keurig with the reservoir because it's never empty, didn't want to take the chance of having it spill during travel.

Amperes are always a constant management to the point that after seven years of full timing it we often run a drop cord from the power pole (Toaster ovens and electric skillets). The DW still has her misunderstandings with how many appliances on which breaker (15 amps max) and God bless her sole, exceeding the 30 max amperes will require me to go outside and restore power. All said I will never give up, never surrender!!!

Yes.. thats a good point.. another camping friend of mine (who works for GREEN MOUNTAIN) said the same thing. I want to leave the coffee maker in the camper.. so i would want it dry.

yep i have a fridge and AC.. and electric water heater. I usually just make sure the microwave and coffee maker isn't running at the same time.. and it seems to be ok. I might flip the off switch on the hot water heater just to be sure.

Chuck, I have used both the single cup and the reservoir Keurigs's in my camper. They both have some water in them. And if they spill, what do they spill?
Unless you are the wicked witch of the west, you should not have a problem with a little bit of water. Just store it where it wont tip over, which is what I do, and you will be fine.
I dont like the single cup unit, just takes to darn long to make a cup of coffee, and almost the same time to make a second cup. Yes I am "roughing it" but come on, I want coffee when I wake up!
As far as current draw, just turn it off when you are not using it.
