I just finished installing the locks. This is easily going to be one of my favorite mods.

I installed my first one tonight after work. I did some experimenting. 1st, it isn't as deep as the stock one. I used the stock offset cam and flipped it and it works nice and tight. I will take a few pics when I can.

Ok, so, if it hasn't been said yet, these locks do not work on the outside shower. The hole is recessed and the wings hit the sides where it is recessed.

Thanks, Handbuilder, for finding these. The locks are a bit more expensive now than when someone found them for less than 8 bucks, but they still seam a good solution. For those who are still looking, here's a direct link to this product at Wholesale4 Inc.

We just camped our first outing with the new locks, and I have to thank you once again, Handbuilder, for showing us the way. These locks made me a modding rock star with my wife.

We always park the picnic table towards the right rear of the camper, right by the rear hatch. My wife stores our outdoor dining/cooking supplies in that hatch for easy access, and these locks made that access a whole lot easier. She said at least a half dozen times over the weekend, "These things are just too flippin' cool."

Keyed thumb locks

The size given in the listings is the length of the threaded portion of the lock body--the barrel--from right behind the head with the key slot to the end of the threads but not including the little cam at the end that holds the door closed. The diameter of the barrel is the same for all barrel lengths. Unless your Shamrock's door is a lot thicker than usual, it probably uses a lock of the same length barrel as for our A-frame campers, which I believe is 7/8". That's the size of the lock in the link from mherte above.

If I'm wrong someone will chime in with the right length.

I just installed my locks yesterday, its a great improvement over the old locks. For the shower I took one of the nuts off the old lock and used it as a spacer, now it has plenty of room to turn. This is a costly mod but well worth the money for the convenience.

A simple and elegant solution. Particularly when compared to the grinding away at the latch I did.

We got some of these nifty thumb locks and what a joy to be able to access the cargo areas easily! Thanks for all the good info of those that have gone before me and worked out the kinks. I have to say they were not too easy to assemble and the bag of little parts were intimidating but it was worth it in the end!

Yes, assembling those small parts was awkward. I used a fingertip full of some general purpose grease in that little hole to keep them in place during assembly. Messy but effective.

I don't recommend trimming your fingernails just before assembly. I was overdue for clipping mine, and found that they sure came in handy for holding those little parts in place during final assembly.

Changed all my compartment locks in the early spring when i found out that all compartment keys for all trailers are the same. Also found out recently from another camper that the door handle locks work with any campers door key. When I changed mine I got new door locks and the compartment locks keyed all alike and they are double sided keys so they aren't the same as others. Less likely that anyone has the same key. Wish I had of ordered the thumb locks though with the double sided keys.

Just ordered four. The woman said they will ship out tomorrow keyed alike!

They said they've had to increase their orders for these since they are getting so many requests! Too bad we can't get a discount for free advertising!
