LED help please
I excitedly put in two LED 921 replacements in my T12DD last night. I had purchased a 250 lumen and a 150 lumen because I wasn't sure how they compared to the incandescent bulbs. Somehow in my rush to purchase, I clicked on natural white rather than warm white. I have my TT stored about 15 miles from the local airport, however, I think I may have lured one or two flights from St. Louis off course! Need to check with FAA....Ok, so who has suggestions on what lumen and color to add for the other two to tone it down just a bit? I can mix them together as needed. Maybe I should change my screen name to Not So Bright?????

This is perfect timing. One of our 921 lights burnt out and I'm looking to replace it. Here is what I think I'm going to order:
Revolution 921 250 NL - Star Lights, Inc.
It's 250 lumens and 3200 kelvin. They have a chart showing the kind of light you can expect from that.
I found Amazon has them for incredibly cheaper ($22). But, there are less specs on the light on Amazon.
It's quite a bit more expensive than some other places, but I am hoping it is a better quality.

ependydad, those are the exact same bulb sold by the same company (starlights). you just have to watch the shipping cost on amazon, you would need to buy two to get the free shipping.

Yeah, sorry- I didn't word that well. I knew they were the same bulb- just cheaper price.
I'm fixing to do a big Amazon order, so the shipping will end up being free.

Just you guys know, there all pretty much made in China. The difference mainly is the circuitry, with the number of diodes as current controllers. The type of SMD on the boards, dictate the wavelength of light emitted, (i.e. bright, warm, etc.) So price, IMO is your primary concern.

So if I synthesized this correctly - I need lights that are below 15SMD, 3200 Kelvin (warm white) at a reasonable price..........

The light output is a direct relation to the number of SMD's. However, larger SMD's produce more light. Size 5050's less than 5630's. Lumens is the measurement of light. The caveat is mfg. stated claim, to actual lumens emitted.Kelvin ratings generally mean the higher the kelvin, the whiter the light. The term warm here means closer to Incandescent. White, or bright means closer to halogen in light color emitted.

New member here. I just replaced all my incandescent 921's with LED replacements. I love them. You might want to research M4 Products. Great prices and quick response

How do you replace the tube like lights in a 2014 12DDST. I have replaced the outside lights already. Just wondering about the interior ones.

Just to muddy the water a bit more. A 12V LED may not last very long as most of us will run these at 14.2V. I have had good luck with these. They are good for 10 to 30 Volts. They are not dimmable.

Does this replace the interior and external lights without any adaptor? Plug and play
Can you illustrate how to open the cover of the Aframe inside light cover?

I honestly don't know where you get 14.2V from.
2.2V times 6 cells = 13.2V
Most converters don't get up to 14.2V, which is the voltage you need to properly charge some (most?) true deep cycle batteries.
LEDs run in a range of 10~30 volts DC. How hard they are 'driven' determines how bright they are and how long they last. (quote from LED Wholesalers tech)
I recommend staying away from the cheaper LEDs. I have a whole bag full of 'em. At least they didn't cost a lot!

Marc, the lenses of the interior lights just slide up (or down, depending which lens it is) and off. Not easily, though. Push the upper lens about a centimeter upward--don't try to pry it off--just slide it upward that distance and then you should be able to pull the lens toward you and off the light. It's hard to push and you should be sure you're not mashing the lens while you're pushing.
The lower lens comes off the same way except pushing down instead.

Th lenses are tough to remove, which is a good thing in that it keeps them in place while traveling. They are also made from pretty strong plastic, also a good thing. I don't know if it is polycarbonate or not, but at least it is a good quality material. Which is promising for longevity.

My interior light lenses are solid not two piece. Needed to be pried out from the base. Much like the exterior lenses.

IIRC, the lenses have to be pinched a bit on the rounded end to get the prong free of the housing. They slide out from there. Prying is tricky because the plastic may be hard to break but can tear or gouge under the pressure of a blade. Although with care the rounded end can also be pried out a bit to free the prong, it is unnecessary.
The main reason to pry, I would think, is not understanding how the lights are removed and trying to do pry from the blunt end at the middle of the fixture, which is as sure to cause damage as it is to not release the cover.

Not the current light fixtures for the 12DDST. Single piece plastic.
