Can you post a photo of the power jacks? I was thinking they might be something like Molex connectors, perhaps. With a photo in hand you might try either Radio Shack or an electronics supply house to see if they can ID them.

power jacks

I went to Jaycar electronics store here in Melbourne (Australia) I took the socket from the dome light with me. The plug is a 6.5mm mono plug that is really designed for stereo systems rather than power supply as the guy at store said there is a good chance you can blow a fuse just plugging the plug into the power jack for use and there are only for light/low 12V draw loads. I bought 3 anyway and will fit one to a spiral type lead that has a cigarette lighter socket fitted to the other end. It may be handy. I will keep the other two as spares for 'whatever' accessories down the track. I will get myself a couple of sets of blade fuses for the converter tomorrow as well just in case. Thanks for looking at the issue. I will fit an external double cigarette socket to the external walls soon and one inside the van too which could be handy I believe.

Glad you got that sorted. Have you tried plugging one of them in yet? What the guy said about possibly blowing a fuse just plugging it in does make a bit of sense. For a brief second as the plug goes in it might bridge the plus and minus terminals inside the jack and cause a short. If that happens, maybe you can find a slow-blow fuse that will work.

I haven't tried it yet, I just have the male jacks to make up power connections if needed. I will make up a male jack lead to a LED light for over the bed and maybe one with a cigarette type socket to use for 12V appliances I may use.

The jacks your are looking at are typically used to plug in Bunk Light/Fans.

See here

This is a better link.

AS a matter of fact my trailer did not have these so I added the jacks to the light fixtures to be able to use the bunk lights.

Look them up on eBay they can be had for reasonable price and I find them extremely practical.
