Just a add on to Old Coot suggestion is use a left handed drill bit and you may get lucky and it comes out with just drilling , if not use the EZ out like Old Coot said.
( just remember you must run the drill in reverse when using left hand drill bits)

What I hate is every time I grab a bottle,,,
I have to try and figure out how many freaking LTs in a QT ???

After 70 + years,,, this old dog is to old to learn new tricks !!!
Maybe I have enjoyed to many 12 ozers over the years ???
Just bought a set of Metric Allen wrenches the other day,,,
So I could tighten a bolt on a bike !!!
I have almost every tool in the world,,, now I have to go buy more !!!

Believe me I was born and raised with Imperial system also, back when the metric system was FORCED!! on us we were told that both systems could be used. Funny kids today still speak about things using imperial ( miles, feet, inches) don't think they have a idea what they are but still use them

Torque on the anode rod should be approx. 7 foot lbs and no more than 1 1/4 raps of Teflon tape. If the Teflon is to thick the treads may not cut it enough to make good metal to metal contact with the tank. That would render the anode useless.
If an anode is looking new for several years if may not be making good contact with the tank.

Yes they have a colour ( not color) code and they are the BEST design for not slipping when you are driving them in.
