Main battery fuse blows

Hello,
I have a 2012 12rb. Whenever I plug in and then unplug my main battery fuse which is 20 amp blows. Based on an old thread it looks like I may need a 30 amp fuse but want to confirm before I try this.
Any suggestions?

It is the fuse located at the second from the bottom. When it is blown and the camper is not plugged in all of the lights and water pump will not work. Once I replace the fuse all is well. But I have to put in a new fuse when ever I plug in.

I can’t see your fuse panel from my campground near Texarkana, Texas so I can’t guess what that fuse is.
Does it have a printed label near it?
Do you see the words Reverse Polarity near it?

The reverse polarity is the bottom 40 amp fuse.

Good job with the pic! It would have been nice if they had included a legend. They didn’t even fill in the 6 blanks of how many amps each fuse should be. I’m out since my 50amp 5th wheel panel is so different. So here we wait until some helpful members fill in the blanks.

I know! So helpful with no labels. There was another thread that labeled number 6 as 30 amp and it does say on the label above the fuses that fuses 5 and 6 can have Max 30 amps. Since I am an electrical neophyte I wanted to make sure before I just tried the 30 amp fuse.

If your converter is the WFCO 8735P (or ends in 35), the 30 amp fuse is appropriate. Your converter can output 35 amps DC (the fan will be pretty loud if actually putting out that much), so 30 amps to the battery would be correct.

If you have a 25 amp converter (last 2 of the model # end in 25), a 25 amp fuse would be appropriate. Some of the earlier pop-ups (not sure about A-frames) had 20 or 25 amp converters instead of the now pretty-standard WFCO 8735P converter.

If plugged in, everything DC should work except for battery charging, being powered by the converter instead of the battery. If not plugged in, nothing DC will work (includes thermostat, CoolCat (because of thermostat DC relay), propane/CO detector, stereo, water heater, as well as lights and water pump) if the battery fuse is blown.

When that fuse is blown, do any 12 volt items in the RV work?

Also pull the cover off the panel and see what size wire is hooked to that fuse? Unplug from shore power first.

Thanks so much for the feedback. Way too many folks get the answer and forget to share the result. Thanks again.
