Mount Television to Wall

I am thinking about mounting a 20 inch television onto the wall at the end of the bed using a detachable type mount like the one listed in the link below. I would like to use a detachable one so that I can just lay the TV on the bed when traveling. Question, are there metal studs in the wall? My stud finder is showing one (see picture). If no stud could I through bolt the mount? I would prefer not to through bolt, but as long as the bolts are stainless and I used some good sealant and maybe a metal backing plate on the outside wall I don't see it being an issue. Anyone done something like this?

I'm interested in doing this as well, so hopefully someone else has tried this!

I normally set the TV on the counter above the microwave, but would like to mount it on the wall right above the counter.

I've seen where A-Frame owners have attached a tv on that wall but in doing so, they reinforced both sides interior and exterior walls to support the weight...and sealed it to prevent water from entering.
Like many others, I put mine on the microwave cabinet but up on a shelf so I can still use the counter top

I was also thinking of doing an arm mount attached to the counter that could fold down. I haven't looked at any mounts yet to see if they would be flat enough though!

Mount Television to Wall

there is no stud. the wall material is a sandwich of thin acrylic on outside and thin metal on outside with foam in between. not suitable to support any real weight. any weight whatsoever and screws will just pull out. you can actually pull the mesh nets off the wall with almost no effort.

I would recommend a table mount if TV is an essential for you.

Put mine up (23"), through bolted, body washers, stainless, with marine rtv sealant. 2 years ago. No pull through, no delamination, no problems whatsoever. Don't over tighten, use nylox nuts. Several thousand miles traveled and many dirt roads.

Would you be able to share photos? I'm thinking of doing this, but really want to research it before I do anything. Thanks!

A detachable mount like the one biscuit72 is considering is about the only thing I would think of using. Having a TV attached to the folded wall during transit seems problematic for the TV as well as the camper. The main concern for the removable mount is the pulling on the wall of having the TV out on the extended arm. Particularly if there were some inadvertent extra weight put on the end of the arm. I may be hyper conservative about this, but there is no way to test this setup.

As a solo camper who is not interested in the iffy broadcast TV at campgrounds, I watch video with an older iPad sitting on the counter. I can take my entire video collection on a wifi enabled hard drive by compressing the monster MKV files down to MP4 with lower resolution with room left over for all the music.

I ended up through bolting and using some ABS plastic on the outside of the camper to reinforce. I can easily detach the TV (2 two hex screws) and lay it on the bed while traveling. As litgrep said, don't over tighten. TV has a DVD and HDMI input and with a lighting to HDMI cable (way over priced) I can watch movies rented on my iPhone or iPad. I tried a HD TV antenna, but didn't have any luck picking up channels in the mountains here in CO.

I made a bracket and bolted it up to the metal ledge on the wall. made some hooks on the back of the tv out of aluminum for easy on/off. works real well.

How and where do you connect to antenna? Is it indoor or outdoor antenna?

Very nice. How is it secured to the top edge of the side wall?

Sheet metal screw like the one one the front edge. The front screw is a factory one.

I only use the TV with a hard drive with movies on it. I just have a USB cable hanging down to plug into. I guess you could hang an antenna and run the cable through the window.

Very nice install! I have been mulling over how to get my 24" up off of the counter in my pop up. Have settled on using the tension shower rod method but am trying to figure out a nice clean way to attatch the tv and bracket to the rod. This method could be modified to work.
