New to the RV Life

Hello everyone, my wife and I are brand new to the RV Live. We just purchased a Flagstaff T21DMHW A frame pop up camper. We just spent 6 days and 1900 miles breaking it in. We love it, but have some questions about some issues or questions that have come up. When we expand the unit, there is a gap at the apex of the roof where I can see day light. The first night it rained. We did have some wet sheets in the back corner of the unit. I presume the water came from the gap, but not sure. I have attached some pics for reference. Also, the this unit does not have a black/gray holding tank. It has cassette toilet that works great. It does have a shower and sink. Each has its own drain that you can hook up a garden hose to. I presume if you were boondocking, you would need to put the the gray water in a portable tank. My question for the gray water is when you are at a site that has full hook ups. Whats the best way to get the gray water from the camper to the sewer hook up. Was wondering whats peoples thoughts were on that. Would love to hear what others tips and tricks people would recommend...Click image for larger version

Welcome!.

A quick search showed an existing thread on the waste water:
https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...ng-189745.html

There are several threads on the ceiling gap. Bottom line: Normal with few leaking issues.
Be sure you're level and side clamps are closed tight. We've been in some crazy rains over the years with very little leaking.

There was a thread recently about the proper sequence for setting up. It has some good information.
Found it in a different subforum:

Have fun!

While I only have the sink drain, the same applies with your other drains when you have full hookups. I simply collect the gray water in a bucket, and pour it down the sewage drain when the bucket is full. Otherwise I leave the cap on the sewage connection.

Back on my first A-frame, and my first time with full hookups, I just took the cap off and stuck the gray water hose into the hole. The occasional odors convinced me to go back to the bucket, and keeping the cap on.

There is a sewage pipe cap that allows a garden hose to be screwed onto, but we so seldom have full hookups that I don't bother. Or you could plumb the drains together and then add a regular RV slinky.

We previously had a 2012 Rockwood A126 (no shower). It was an easy tow & we enjoyed putting on several thousand miles before selling it a couple of years ago.

We used the bucket collection method (as other have suggested) for sink water. When bucket was full-ish, poured it into the sewer stand.
The cassette was easier handled taken to the dump station.

The small gap at top rarely caused trouble, mainly if rain was blowing from that direction.

One thing I would suggest is replacing the tires. Because it towed so easily we were at a loss on why there were rubbing marks where it folded over itself. We were unaware of how badly it vibrated during travel until the wall hinges began pulling away.
Eventually one tire kept losing air & the tire shop man showed us the inside of the tire. Our OEM tires looked great on the outside but were defective on the inside causing the vibration. A set of new better brand tires stopped the vibration problems.
