Propane Fumes?
This past weekend was our first time boondocking in our new a122BH. This is all new to us.
We had the fridge on propane and had to set the furnace to come on a couple of times during the night.
All went well but there seemed to be a smell inside the camper. Not propane gas. Almost like an exhaust smell. The furnace also seemed to have an odor but that could be because it's new. Made me a little paranoid with the family sleeping in the camper.
The CO alarm did not go off. Nor did the smoke detector.
Is this caused by the exhaust of the fridge? Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Are there ways to avoid it or lessen it?
Thanks
C

First the exhaust for the refrigerator is completely outside. The burning smell is from the heater burning off oil or dust. You should run the heater with the windows or door open for 1/2 hour to get rid of the smell from the heater. After that you should be fine.

furnaces are shipped from the mfg with an oil protecting on the heat exchanger this is not on all furnaces RV or Stick house. It will burn off like has been mentioned open the windows and run the unit.

In most units, the water pump output flow is about 1.5 G.P.M. (gallons per minute)
At that flow rate, your 2 gallon hot water tank will empty in 1.3 minutes using all hot water or about twice that long using both hot and cold.
Seems normal.

I don't think your WH is only 2 gallons. I don't think anyone makes one that small.
Should be a 6 gallon WH.

If it's a six gallon tank and you are running out of water that quickly, several things come to mind...
Are your bypass valves (for winterizing) set correctly?
Were you using propane or electric? (if dual source)
Electric takes much longer to heat the tank than propane.
Maybe you didn't give it enough time to properly heat up.
And finally, the ambient temperature of the supply (intake) water has a lot to do with how quickly they heat and recover.

I'm sorry you had a nightmare first night.
You shouldn't have though if your selling dealer would have went over the necessary basic R/V 101 things you NEED to know about you rig when doing the PDI/Customer Orientation when you purchased.
Shame on them for letting you get off their lot without you fully understanding what you needed to know to make your first night camping an enjoyable one.

When you are new it is really hard to remember all the details, huh ! Yeah me too. You will get the hang of it and develop the style of camping you like best. Another thing when you fill the tank with water turn on the pump and open the pressure relief valve on the water heater a bit until water comes out. This ensures that the water heater is full and no air is trapped inside. Happy camping it gets much easier as your confidence increases.

. Butch, never gave a thought to let the air out I will do this tomorrow night. I have done this at home when replacing the home water tank. Thanks again Eric
