Rear Molding

I'm wondering if anyone has experience making a repair to the molding at the rear corner of their Flagstaff Aframe. After three years (stored indoors when not on the road) I just noticed that it is beginning to pull away. What did you use to "stick" it back down? How extensively did you clean out the old "stuff"? I could really use some pointers - start to finish. Thanks!

I too would like to know what to do. I kissed a tree this past weekend and broke the marker lens and just moved the rear trim a little.

I am guessing a hair dryer or heat gun to pry it off? Then a shot of construction adhesive and some clamping contraption to hold it place?

If anyone else has experience or ideas, it would help.

For the trim try using some 3M trim adhesive from an auto parts store.

I did not know there was trim adhesive like that! I will give that a try.

That rear trim is screwed down on mine. I had a similar problem with bottom pulled out about 3/16th". Remove the center vinyl strip by simply popping it out with a small screwdriver and you will see the screws holding it down. The screw had rusted and stripped out on mine so I replaced screw with a slightly larger one and retightened and it went back into place. I don't think glue is going to hold it down because there was a fair mount of tension on mine. You may just have to simply retighten those screws in your case. If caulk was disturbed you may have to re-caulk trim after tightening screws. There might be a small screw at bottom of that center vinyl strip that you may have to remove first to allow it to be completely removed out of the way.

I backed into something in 2016, causing a small tear in the center vinyl. I put a piece of electrical tape over it and it's still there.

I cracked a taillight in a similar manner. I didn't have any 3m Extreme tape on me and the Gorilla Duct tape isn't that good so I used a piece of Velcro tape! That stuff is so sticky! It doesn't bend and shape as well as duct tape, but it was good enough to get me home 4 years ago (and yep, it's still there and working!!)

mzak is dead on with how to fix/tighten the corner molding. Depending on the condition of the wood below the trim, you may have to slip in a wooden matchstick or some wooden toothpicks with some wood glue on them. Clean off the old caulking and re-caulk the edges of the trim. I noticed this happening last year, then while at a FROG rally in Williston, FL. the service speakers came around to our sites and allowed us to ask questions about repairs that we felt needed to be done. The advisors then gave us hints on how to go about doing the repairs. What a great benefit we received while at the rally.
