Rear view camera for Aframe

Hello fellow A framers!
Thought I'd share a project I just completed. I've had trouble backing into some sites because of the dormer on my 214hw blocking the view.
Purchased a Wi-Fi enabled rearview camera that uses your smart phone as the monitor ($80.00) and a zamp style plug/fuse harness from Amazon. I also purchased 20ft of 12/3 braided cord from Lowe's. I ran the cord through the wiring harness holes under the camper to the bumper. I spliced the zamp plug harness to cord (insure correct polarity with meter) and plugged in to zamp socket. I mounted the camera direct to the bumper, and connected to the new power run under the camper. Wow, works great, and can see traffic behind me. Total expense under $100, plus my time. Camera is removable for storage.Click image for larger version

Looks good!

Would you mind sharing a link for the camera?

Great idea using the zamp plug. I will be doing the same thing this weekend. I think I am going to mount my camera above the spare tire. My aw 214 does not have a bumper

Could you tell me how well the camera has been working for you? Looks like a neat camera, but the Amazon reviews are mixed. There doesn't seem to be a lot of choices available in the marketplace for WiFi backup cameras. All have mixed reviews.

Looks like a great solution. Is the camera always on (potentially draining the battery)? And would you post the link to amazon for the zamp plug/fuse. I’m new to DIY wiring on pop-up trailers. There are so many choices on amazon hard to tell what works. Thanks

After our very first trip (a short 2hr distance away), in our brand new 5'er, the first thing I did when we got back was install a rear view camera on the van. Ran wires to the trailer plug and use that as the connection to the truck. The monitor is the video input on the 7" screen radio. Since then I added more. I now have cameras mounted on the rear of the truck (didn't come with a reversing camera), front corner of the truck looking back for a view down the side, (I have a tight alley to back through at home) one on cab roof at the tub light pointing up for tree clearance checks as well as the 5'er rear view, all managed via a rotary switch I installed on the dash. Got them all at a local weekend market and they work great and are a huge help.
