Rockwood A122S Power Question

I'm looking at purchasing a used (2021) A122S hard-side popup trailer camper. The campground I like to stay in doesn't have 30amp power hookups, just regular 15 amp 110v power. Does the A122S have a 110v plug that can run a subset of the circuits, like maybe just the refrigerator and a wall plug? I can't find any info on this on the manufacturer's website. I suppose I could rewire it, but I wouldn't want to muck it up.

Thanks for considering.

Amazon, eBay and any RV camping store have adapters to go from 15 amp to RV 30 amp. You will most likely either not be able to use your microwave with anything else running or at all when hooked up to 15 amp plug.

Interesting - thank you! I'm a newbie to RV camping (have only ever done tent camping in the past).

The campground does not allow air conditioners to be run while camping and I don't ever expect to use the microwave. I'd be quite happy with just the refrigerator and a plug for my laptop. Does that sound reasonable when using an adapter like this?

That should work fine. I would use an adapter like THIS ONE plugged in at the campground hookup so you have your 30 amp cord running from the post to the trailer.

I actually grew up tent camping with the Boy Scouts (back in the 60's). Lovely Wife grew up with camper trailers and motor homes. They are two rather different activities with the same name, both in the great outdoors. Enjoy!!

Thanks! Yeah I have been a tent camper my whole life, but now that I'm in my 50s it's time to stop sleeping on the ground and getting soaked every time it rains. I appreciate the info!

I have my trailer plugged in all the time to a outlet in my garage using 12g extension cord and a 15-30amp adapter
extension cord /adapter is plugged into the standard 30amp INLET of the trailer and powers all of the outlets

The trick is... only turn one or two items on at a time
otherwise you will trip the breaker in the house/campground etc

for storage I have the
1) air conditioner set to 85 (humidity control)
2) converter ON keeps the battery topped up.

I can test/use each appliance make sure they work before going camping
and if I want can run the air conditioner while loading the provisions

work out how your water heater works... some will have a switch outside
MAKE SURE .... it is OFF so you won't use 120v for hot water.

Moved thread from the TT/5th Wheel section's Rockwood sub-forum to the A-frame sub-forum since the OP has an A-frame trailer and not a TT or 5th Wheel.

Many of us are former 'tent campers' who decided sleeping on the ground and getting soaked every time it rains just wasn't worth it. You're going to find it much more pleasant in that camper.
I can understand the campground banning air conditioners. I've seen tent campers bring portable air conditioners. The 15 amp campgrounds weren't built to take that load.
We have a fan which you can operate on rechargeable batteries, D batteries, AC or DC (we live in hurricane country) that works well to cool one person down https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You should be fine running the refrigerator and one outlet with the 15-30 amp adapter.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum . . Yes, it was getting wet (during a thunderstorm) that finally became the last straw for my wife. These small campers are cosy and warm (not to mention dry too!!)
We have a dry trailer (no water in tank), still preferring to be outside for cooking and the other daily activities. That being said we warm our wash water in a small basin that fits into the microwave . . . My DW still chuckles at me when I prepare for cleanup . . . ; )
You'll use the exhaust fan too . . . It cools the camper and removes humidity that will happen when inside over nite.
Happy trails await wishing you safe travels and adventurers.
