Question Rockwood Aframes

Does any one know if the Rockwood a214HW is considered a self contained unit? We were considering a membership in Harvest Hosts.

According to the Harvest Hosts website....

Requirements for joining the program
You must have a self-contained RV with a toilet, water tank and inside cooking facilities
No tents of any kind are allowed

As long as you're rig meets those requirements, you should have no problem camping at their sites. Host locations generally don't have any hookups, so you need to bring your own water and dump black and grey water at another location.

Does anyone check those requirements because we have cooking facilities and toilet facilities. We don't have on board gray water collection however, we do know how to camp without creating any.

My popup had sink but no tanks and a ship's potty. The gray water discharge was a garden hose fitting. I bought 2 five gallon water jugs from Walmart and cut a 2 foot length of garden hose to direct the discharge into the jugs. Basically an external gray water tank.

Did harvest hosts allow you to use their facilities?

Not at Harvest Hosts but we had issues once camping at a “fully self contained” campsite with our Aframe. We’d camped there with no issues several times before but this time were told we didn’t meet the requirement of being “fully self contained”. I was able to stick the tote tank in the rear storage compartment and run a short piece of hose into it. That satisfied them but haven’t been back since.

My point is that enforcement can vary. HH is a bunch of independent locations that may or may not have an issue with an Aframe. You have to decide if it is worth the risk of being turned away on arrival and having to make other arrangements.
